i know there were some issues with battery life in ipods before but i thought it was resolved long ago.

got my ipod in may of 2005, used regularly for working out, bought a dock during holiday season 2005, now my battery life is crap.

the battery charges fine from the ac adapter when plugged into an outlet but when i update my ipod the battery life dies or at least gets cut in half.

is this a common problem or should i seek out my local apple store for more info ... ?

thanks all.

well i thought this morning that there was no way the battery could be dead after sitting on the dock all night but it officially died while working out. i just got home from work and the ipod is fully charged (icon and all).

who knows -- i may use this as an excuse to visit an apple store. i might need a new intel imac after all ???

It could be that when in the dock the computer is not providing enough power to charge the iPod fully.

Do you turn the computer off overnight with the iPod in the dock, if so you may find the iPod is discharging power via the computer connection (has been reported before).

Make sure your Dock isn't connected to a USB hub. I had my iPod connected to a hub and it would not charge. I connected it directly to the computer and all was well.

Ipod batteries are just not made to last! I thought my 1g ipod's battery was bad but my 3g ipod dies after an hour or 2 of playing now. Apple we need better ipod batteries!
