I'm trying to empty the trash but am getting an error message

"Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error code occured
(Error code -8062)"

I am logged in as owner, administrator, and root and have had no success. It does ask me for a password and after i type it in, I get the error message.

Any suggestions?

You should be able to delete any file from the Terminal using rm - if you don't have permissions you can sudo rm.

(Obligitary warning: be careful, sudo rm is potentially dangerous if mis-used.)

If using the Terminal is geekier than you want to get, try one of these utilities.

Hope this helps,

If you can boot into OS 9 you can delete any file you want. Just drag the files out of thye trash to somewhere you can easily find them in OS 9.

i had this problem a while back. what worked for me was to boot from the OSX system disk and open Disk Utility and repair permissions on the drive. haven't had the problem since.
