Yikes, check this out:

(Almost) Any Color You Like

A bit too pricey for me, and I like white anyway.

This place is cheaper:

http://www.macskinz.com/

It may not be painted on but it is a few hundred less and if you get tired of the color or design just change it out.

MacSkinz is definitely better than a paintjob because it's not permanent! If you get tired of the look (or realize when you get it that it looks like feces), you can easily change it without much fuss.

I'm diggin' on Macskinz... haven't quite decided on one yet tho...

Wife sez iBook was purchased for daughter, so Macskinz should be my daughter's choice (prolly pink), and I'm secretly thinking the iBook is MINE MINE MINE ALL MINE.

That would mean biohazard, skulls, or a nice atomic trifoil.

Gonna hafta settle on an animal print if they ever release 'em (hint hint).
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

At least I have something to fire back at my alienware fanboy friend now because he wanted a chameleon alienware book lol

OH be sure to check out their video on it too.,.. this is where the paint job really shines  I love what they did on that powerbook

I'm so tired of white.

I can't wait for black to come back into style again.

That so rocks!
I'll be ordering a handful of clear 'skinz , I can tell you that.
so much easier and safer (and un-voiding of warranty) than most of the 'Book mods ou there.

Anyone know the stats for the design-your-own MacSkinz? Size/Rez and all that? Have to take a crack at designing my own, but it'd be good to know what to aim for first.

Also, does anyone know the price breakdown for the bulk silkscreening? Sounds cool, but I can't quite imagine what kind of custom cover lots of people would want to buy that wouldn't cross copyright lines. Thoughts?

Anyone actually have this done? By MacSkinz or Colorware? I'm interested in seeing real world pics, specifically the top with the Apple logo.

Does the glue really leave no residue? and can you take it off and put it back on?

i have a blue one that i custom painted. the clear skins are cheaper and you can do anything you want to them. macskinz is finally taking off and im happy about that. they just need to work on bottom pieces. i have a case that is painted teh same as the top, but i need to take alot of time to get the tricky cuts down...

MacSkinz looks to be closed at the moment. Anyone know what's going on there?

Wish there was any way to see the print quality on one of the custom jobs. I'd create a vector-based design, if I were to make my own. Anyone have MacSkinz print their own design who could post/email a pic or three?

Hello Druber,
I just replied to your other post about custom printing. As for the status of MacSkinz, we are moving forward faster than ever. We just had to limit site access during this busy time so that we can focus our energy on building a better product and making it more accessible. There is also MacWorld that we are attending albeit only walking the floor and displaying our wares.

m_young, it is not glue that we use but clear gummy style adhesive pads. The MacSkinz can be applied/removed multiple times and the pads do not leave a residue.

evilmac, covers for the bottom would present all sorts of problems, one of which would be heat dissipitation.

Thanks,
Doug

But in short, here's the link.

Thoughts? I have to say I was pretty pleased with the end result....
