Every Sunday,
MacNN and
Electronista takes a moment to round up a collection of stories from the world of gaming into one post. In this week's
Weekly Game Replay, the second game in the
Titanfall series will be heading to more than the Xbox consoles and PC, BAFTA held its annual game awards show, and the trials and tribulations of the development of
Grand Theft Auto is being turned into a BBC drama.
Titanfall sequel to be multiplatform game, could include singleplayer component
In a week when downloadable content for
Titanfall was made available to all players for
free, it has been revealed the sequel may be playable by more than just PC and Xbox owners. Respawn CEO and founder Vince Zampella has not only confirmed that
Titanfall 2 is in development, but it will also be available on more platforms, such as the PlayStation 4.
"So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that," said Zampella
to IGN. "That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow." Though few details were revealed about what to expect, the CEO did advise the lore of the game would be expanded, but didn't promise that there would be a single-player component instead of a multiplayer-only approach.
BBC making drama about development of the original Grand Theft Auto
Alongside its earlier educational
hardware announcement this week, the BBC has revealed it is filming a feature-length drama about the creation of
Grand Theft Auto. The one-off 90-minute drama will apparently be airing as part of the BBC's "Make It Digital" campaign, and could head to screens in the United Kingdom and abroad as soon as this fall.
According
to Engadget, the program will revolve around the people who first created the game at DMA Design, before the studio rebranded as Rockstar and turned the title into a major franchise. Though it is almost certainly going to cover the trials and tribulations during the development of the first game, it is also likely to cover the controversy that it also courted, including attempts by critics to ban the game completely.
Upcoming Destiny update may will increase in-game storage, may affect multiplayer gameplay
Players of
Destiny will gain some extra in-game storage with the next update, developer Bungie has
announced. A blog post advises that the vault will have some extra slots for items added in the update, expanding the 20 weapon, 20 armor, and 20 item spaces currently allowed per player account, just in time for the new items arriving as part of the House of Wolves expansion in May.
Eurogamer reports the update can also include changes to the way the game will be presented, with the blog stating "Not everyone wants to see or hear a game the same way, which is why we're looking at providing more options." The development team is also looking into changing how ammo crates affect player-vs-player gameplay as one of a list of priorities, and why some strikes are more successfully than others. Assorted bug fixes and other improvements are also expected to arrive in the update.
Goat Simulator heading to Xbox One, Xbox 360 next month
Goat Simulator, the bug-filled comedy game where the player controls a goat and causes havoc, is heading to the Xbox One and Xbox 360. A specific release date was not confirmed except that it would ship sometime in April, with
Eurogamer suggesting the release could be timed for the game's anniversary on April 1. The game was released last year by Coffee Stain Studios as a joke, initially on PC before heading to Android and iOS, with Xbox being its first console foray.
The initial release was praised for its absurd gameplay, which involved destroying a small environment and completing objectives, with the buggy nature of the game adding to the humor. The studio later added more areas to explore, with its most recent addition being a parody of the MMORPG genre. It is unclear if this last update will make the transition to consoles.
