Hello, unfortunately, while I am at work, I don't have access to the awesome cable internet service that I enjoy at home. I am too far from the base station to get DSL, so I am stuck with dial-up. In any case, I went with FasterMac, because Earthlink was just pissing me off. They offer an accelerator, but I am looking to make the connection process a little more seamless. As it stands now, I have to connect, then run an app for the accelerator. Now, I thought about adding the app as a log in item for my user name, but I don't want it running all of the time at work (I don't use the net all day), and I surely don't want it running in the background when I am at home on my cable connection.
What I would like to do is somehow 'sense' that I am connected via dial up (through the external apple modem) then if that comes back positive, run the app for the accelerator. Any suggestions? I thought about scripting it, and adding as a log in item, but it would only run once, and wouldn't detect a connection (since I just logged in). Any insight would be much appreciated...
