I am going to conduct an informal survey regarding two parts of these Powerbooks, namely the backlights and inverter boards.

My LCD flickers when I have a shade of gray show up on it, and other colors, but gray is the primary offender. People, try the "Gray Space" theme in the appearance control panel, and report back here. I have reason to believe we have gotten shitty inverter boards.

The backlights, are your LCDs yellowish? Try this, look at a TV when it has a good bright white on it, then immdiately look back at the LCD's white. Is it yellowish to you?

To vote, just say:
Flicker: Yes or No
Yellowish: Yes or No

You can elaborate. If you reply with a yes, please email me so I can get your email address, that is if I can't get it from your profile.

If your PBG4 exhibits these problems, mention it.

Well, since the "mercury" powerbook's screen actually has mercury in it, that might help to explain a yellow-tint.

most streetlights used around here are of the mercury-vapor type. these streetlights are kinda yellow-orangish when viewed at night.

I don't know exactly what part of the TiBook's screen contains mercury, but if it is the backlight, it could be because of the mercury-vapor color emission

Although i would like to mention that every LCD i've seen has more of an "Off white" than actual white look to it.

Well, I did a little research on my LCD and I found that it just barely makes clearence to make it to a shipping product. I guess I should be happy.

About the flicker, for people who wish to try it again, turn on the "Gray Space" theme and turn down the brightness. Anything?
