I would imagine that using Quicktime Pro (like I have) would be enough to do the trick, but it does not work. I've also tried using Video Lan Client (VLC), MPlayer, and the deault Flash player (than I believe was installed with the Flash internet browser pluggin). Are there additional codecs that I need to install on my machine?

The .flv files I grabbed are from YouTube- there is a possibility that they aren't .flv, but the tutorial I read on how to dowload the files says they are. I also used Flock to download the .flvs, so I'm 99% positive that I have the correct file extension.

I use PodTube, which downloads the .flvs andconverts them to .mp4s.

But I wonder--shouldn't any browser be able to play .flvs? I mean, Safari for example can obviously play them when streamed from YouTube, but apparently not when on a local disk. (In contrast, you can drag a .mov on your hard drive onto Safari's icon and it will play it.)

www.iSquint.org is a free alternative that will convert them as well.
