It was okay. Like I said though, never was a fan of Hank's buzz cut.

I liked this one better than last weeks. Good episode. (not that last weeks was bad, just forgettable)

Don't jinx it. I was halfway through the first episode and that crossed my mind. It's refreshing.

I'd really appreciate it if Adult Swim would stop putting spoilers in the pre-show bumps.

OK SPoiLARS...

That was one of those episodes that is confusing until you watch it again...

Let me see if I have some things correct... The guy in charge of the scientist battle arena thing was the super competent henchman sent with 21 and 24 who was killed by Brock on Spider Skull Island in season 3? Yes? Or was it someone else?

Why was he rounding up scientists/henchman and having them fight again? I must have missed an important line or something.

While I was partial to the Mournful Tits part, one of the writers has a penchant for using the same joke mechanic over and over. Those crazy similes, like "It feels like a dude with a fever is yelling at my crotch" or "It smells like a dumpster full of diapers that's on fire", etc.

Strange episode. I was bored to tears through most of it, but the revelations at the end were huge (did any one else not realize that this was supposed to take course over an entires summer?)

Also, I'll put my money on parallel universe Rusty for the Jonas clothed, follicled doppelganger at close.

Well, at first I thought it'd be future Dean, but there's nothing to support that in the bumpers for next week's episode, so you're guess is more likely.

Quick takes from tonight, really quick:
This episode did a much better job of showing the time frame. Like Dakar, I really had no idea last weeks episode was supposed to span an entire summer. Episode was a bit boring, though. Meh.

To me, it felt like they had two story lines that they just didn't resolve. Yes, we saw Doc's script burn so that's "resolved" but in regards to the Human Flame and Dean's Internship, those threads were left a little loose in my opinion.

On the bright side, I think these two episodes were to help set the stage for the rest of the season (4 more episodes?).

I don't know. 75% of Venture Bros episodes don't really get fully revolved. That's usually part of the gag. Everything is still in complete chaos and boom. Closing credits. Use your imagination.

I think I enjoyed last week's episode more, but I do like how they explained the 'better, Dr Venture at the end of last night's.

Agreed. The episodes have been great so far, but I feel a bit lost this half of the season. That's most likely due to the fact that I missed the first four episodes while away and had to watch them after I got back to LA.

Yeah, it'd have been interesting to see his non-sucky counterpart and that dimensions versions of Hank, Dean etc. I wonder if it would have been more interesting if they'd spliced the stories together instead of doing the whole two viewpoints thing, though.

I'm sure we will see more of it at some point. It's just too juicy of a hook to ignore.

Also, I know the opening was all a fantasy, but I'm assuming that Phantom Limb actually revealed that the moppets were deep-undercover agents of either his or the guild.

I think that he was simply brainstorming, and considered the moppets evil enough that maybe they could be bought to kill their own former master.

Just my 2¢

Agree with sek there. There's no possible way the Moppets would ever turn against Dr. Mrs. The Monarch.

Except when she stops treating them special and makes them just like the Monarch's other henchmen.

The last time they were featured, they were not happy.

Without the Guild/OSI bureaucracy in place, couldn't you just go and shoot your enemies in the face with guns? Until they are dead?

I guess Phantom Limb is just old fashioned.

Another mostly forgettable episode. What's really weird, though, was how the non-sequiturish 45 seconds following the credits was engrossing in a manner that just blew the preceding 21 minutes of actual story out of the water.

They are really delving deep into the tortured existence of Dr Venture the last few episodes.

I have to say that I think my favorite part of this season has been Shore Leave.

I thought it was great. The psyche of Dr. Venture set against the bicker of Brock & the others...funny stuff. But the Hench/Dr. GF development was both unforeseen and rewarding.

Really? They've been dancing around that for years. I suppose 21s ascendancy and Monarch's spiral make the love triangle believable, but at the end of day – love triangle? ugh. If they can work the Doc back in to make it a love square maybe it'll be interesting.

Or get 24's ethereal spirit in on it for some some 5 way action.

Not any more. The previous episode Phantom Limb's revenge fantasy involved murdering Dr. Mrs. The Monarch.

He's too infrequent a character to come into play anyway.

So I guess it was implied that the Samson/21 fight from the end of the first half of last season is what necessitated Monstroso's heart transplant?

That finale was epically "old school" venture bros awesome. Loved it.

It was also a little frighteningly "final". Like it could stand as an ending if it had to... and that would suck.

Any official word on a season 5?

The end of the credits said "The Ventures Brothers will return."

How long the wait is going to be is another thing.

Exactly how I felt. If this was it, I'd be ok with it.

It's always a long wait. The wait between Seasons 2 and 3 might have been the only reasonable one.

Looks like (roughly)...

2 years between 1 and 2
2 years between 2 and 3
1 year between 3 and 4 (1st half)
1 year between 4 (1st half) and 4 (2nd half)

I think they're going back into 2 year mode.

Yeah... :/

It is rather odd how they do their seasons, though. I wonder if they enjoy breaks or otherwise have a reason to not follow the standard formula/seasons. A pity that Season 4 will probably be split into two DVD releases and not see a unified one.

I always read it as uncertainty from Adult Swim. Don't hold me to this, but at the time (Say, Season 2) it was one of the most expensive shows they made, while not as popular as Aqua Teen.

That one was for the DVDs.

I really enjoyed one of Monstroso's Associates recognizing 24 and chatting him up. Too bad that was imagined (even thought 21 wasn't there).

Classic Venture Brothers: Brock pulling into the compound and just driving over the Associates body without even a word.

That is likely, given the amount of low-budget crap Adult Swim has had on occasion.

That episode was worth the wait (so, so many questions, tho). And yes, it did have an air of finality to it. Made me wonder if AS hadn't picked up the next season yet while it was being produced.
