Hey y'all, i can't believe i can't find any other posts on this but i've searched forever (and not just on this site), and I can't find anywhere that says what format that superdrives in the new powerbooks will burn. all i could find out was that it is a Matshita UJ-825 drive, but i still don't know if it can burn DVD-RW, DVD+R, or . . . ? (i know the'native' drive can, but apple's specs only says dvd-r, and i am not sure if apple has crippled them or ?) anyone who has some expereince with this would be much appreciated.

also two, secondary questions, is there any advantage to DVD+R? and does anyone have experience with Ritek media? it gets good reviews on Newegg and is pretty damn cheap, but most people there have PCs with LiteOn drives, so i'd like to here if anyone with a Mac has used the media before i buy a spindle of 100.

ok, thanks in advance,

t.o

Apple's drives support DVD-R, not DVD+R (not sure if it's a matter of crippling the firmware or what). I don't think there's any real-world difference between + and -, there just different standards for doing the same thing.

As for brands, check http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm for reviews on all sorts of media.

I've had excelent luck with riteck GO4 media in the past. Not a coster to speak of in 200 DVD-Rs. However, I should note that this was done on my PC with a sony burner and not on a SD powerbook.

If I recall, you can burn DVD+R in the finder, but in iDVD, DVD StudioPro, etc you must use DVD-R.
