I ordered mine only a couple hours after its release, and it's still in Taiwan...

It shipped on Thursday, and yesterday (Friday) I got a mail from Apple telling me:

"We are happy to advise you that your order is now in transit. Unfortunately
we are experiencing a small delay of approximately 3-4 working days ( in
addition to our original quote of 3-5 working days) on this shipment."

Tracking...

For those of you who already got your new 12" PowerBook - were they BTO models or just the default ones? Also, anyone from Europe got their BTO orders?

I feel so left out in the cold...

somebody with and 80GB hard drive BTO 12" please run xbench with Energy Saver's performance = Highest.... from what I understand, the disk test should be higher because of a more dense hard disk area.

THANKS!!!

My 12 combo with AE and my iPod have finally arrived, and all is incredible. I love this machine.

The iPod came Thursday, after a week, and my PB came on Friday in the morning. A quick session with Carbon Copy Cloner, and I'm all good.

Sigh, I love Apple.

Ok, after calling fed-ex and shelling out for the special super ultra saturday shipping, I finally got my 12 PB Its so nice I threw Panther on it and it runs great, just typing and stuff I get ~5hrs of battery life no problem. Got 2.5 just earlier installing things like a madman and all sorts of stuff, this is a great machine, I will however have to get used to the keyboard. Its very different from my pc keyboard. Especially the delete key is and enter key are slightly off to what im used to, but I am sure I will adjust. as I mentioned earler, I already got my ipod This is real cool now. I take back whatever negative vibes I had towards apple, this is truly a wonderous machine (512 mb ram, and a 60gb hd, as well as AE and that sort of stuff) Im real happy

YAY!

Ok, me out.

Same here! Just arrived in Luxembourg today! Whoooo. Only, I will need to get it in the coming week, or I'll have to wait another 3 weeks to pick it up. It's being sent to my home address, and well, most of the time, I'm at this school...

Wow! I bet you might get it tomorrow afternoon already! Should be Tuesday at the latest, since you're in Helsinki. Unless you have any accessories to be added to your order in Lux? You're not going to leave your house until it gets there, right?

Mine's still in Taiwan, not even cleared customs yet, probably being a weekend and all..

So envious of you and xGrape, still hoping to receive mine next week...

Bump.

Gnaaah, teh wait is killing me...

All the items in my order are now "picked up", but no further dev. yet. I suppose them all must arrive in Luxembourg terminal to be combined in one box, eh? For European orders, that is.

The "preciousss" one is still in Taiwan, since being picked up on Saturday morning... or maybe they haven't updated the page yet..

Any news, anyone in Europe?

Mine's currently in Liege, Belgium.
I can now track it via TNT's system and it will probably arrive tomorrow. (2 days from Lux)
I also noticed that Apple's tracking page updates with one day delay, so yours might already be in Luxembourg.

Heh, I refreshed the page again and now it's showing it left Taiwan terminal at 06 Oct 2003 13:30 GMT, so who knows...

Did you get a separate TNT tracking number? The ones at Apple's site don't work at TNT's...

It starts working once your package gets handed over to TNT. It'll be the reference number in their tracking system.

My first post! Woohoo!!

Hi Everyone, I ordered my 12"PB 10-01-03

The wait is driving me insane! However the expected ship date is On or Before 10-10-03... Almost there.... ::sigh::

From your experience, is their a chance it would ship early??

Also is it possible for them to have installed Panther, since I read in another post that it has gone gold...????

oh well, have a good one...

The Logitech MX500 mouse was the first item to arrive in Lux. - from Holland. Then the PB - from Taiwan. Oh well, still waiting for the Creature speakers and carrying case though...

Any possibility that these latter are sent direct from Lux. and thus not showing up - or are they to be sent from Holland too? It stinks to wait a week extra, only for some peripherals

Yeee! Just got mine this morning. FedEX came before I had to leave for work, so now I get to play with it! It's charging on my desk next to me. It's dead sexy. How pathetic, never thought I'd get this excited over a computer.

Man, I'm jealous!! I ordered a 15" the 17th of sep. and still haven't received it... sucks. But anyways, I congratulate all you new 12" owners.

Please post your impressions!! I'm still curious to now how well apple has adressed the problems of the first generation 12" powerbooks. Is heat still a problem when running the processor at full speed? My brother had a rev. A 12" and it really got HOT some times. He's thinking of going back to the 12" if the "heat problem" has been adressed.

So far I've just read a handfull of "first impressions" and they vary, from "no heat at all" to "still really hot".

Got mine yesterday, a day earlier than what TNT predicted. This is just an awesome thing!
The screen is great, no dead pixels, no white spots. It does get warm if used heavily, but not too warm, definitely not hot.

I love it!

Great! I told you so on Sunday, didn't I!

Only mine's been delayd for another 3-4 days, or so according to the email I got from Apple yesterday. And no progress on the shipment status page either: all items picked up, and pbook departed terminal after clearing customs in Taiwan on Monday...

You didn't have any other items in your order, right? Next time I'm going to order just the computer on one order, and leave any other items on a separate order. This is agonising, this waiting. *S*I*G*H*

Congrats again, though..!

Yep. To all you guys in Europe that are getting the PowerBook through TNT: Forget TNT's tracking. IT SUCKS!

We had a big order going through the AppleStore a couple of weeks ago and the TNT tracking info proved to be absoluetly worthless. The info is

a) wrong, i.e. the locations are not accurate and don't fit with the corresponding time

b) far from real-time. Normally the info got updated with a delay of 24-48h

If you get TNT tracking numbers forget the tracking page. Instead call the AppleStore, ask them where the stuff is exactly and give them a lot of sh!t for the TNT tracking info.

Also, the TNT tracking number the AppleStore gives you can't be used to track on th TNT tracking page. It only works on the AppleStore tracking page...

Keep your heads up. It will arrive finally.

Good question. Lets all send hate-mail to TNT.

8 days since mine left Taiwan, and it still ain't here. I'm not worried though. This is normal...

Just got email from Apple.

Order date: 26th Sept.

I should have it on or before the 6th November!

Come on guys. What the hell.

Its not BTO, its a 12" combo shipping to Italy.

The Italy Store STILL says 5-7 build time for new orders.

I have to wait til Monday to ring as well as they are only open Mon-Fri.

As an update to my last post, my PowerBook which was due for shipment on or before 6th November, shipped today!

From what I read here, it looks like it takes 10 days to get from Taiwan to Europe :-(

At least its on its way. The tracking number I was given. Will that work on the TNT tracking page? Its 800260xxxx. Or do I just rely on the Apple status page? I know TNT tracking is useless but at least I will have some idea of where it is...
