Good day everyone and thanks in advance for your help.

I'm planning to jailbreak and unlock my iphone 3G firm 2.2.1 (02.30.03). I did my work and read many topics and have a small question

Can I use QuickPwn 2.2.5-2 to jail break my iphone if I'm planning on unlock my iphone using a Sim Card http://www.unlockediphone.info/index.html ? I know that I'd rather use PwnageTool as it preserves the baseband but I don't know anyone using MAC OS!!!!!! another thing, if it is possible to use QuickPwn 2.2.5-2 and unlock with a Sim will I be able to upgrade to firmware 3.0?

Thanks alot.

You can jailbreak it, but you cannot unlock the 02.30 baseband. iPhone Dev Team are working on 3.0 right now, so you can cancel any plans you had either. I had to move to 02, which I guess wasn't a bad thing in the grand scheme o things.

If you are still running the 02.28 baseband you can unlock it by preserving the baseband. This is the only way to get a 2.2.1 unlock. There's no new PwnageTool etc for a 02.30 2.2.1 unlock - it just can't be done, at least for the minute.

I'm in the same boat. But we have to wait for the dev team to come out with the solution to unlock it. I mean good god, you wouldn't believe my luck. I had an unlocked phone but my backlight went out and had to have it swapped out.

Only problem is I'm on T-Mobile.
Backups are like guns and condoms. It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
