So yeah. I know this thread seems to come up every other time I visit, but I haven't seen one in at least, like, 2 weeks.

Besides, I really like these. I'm a bit of a music fanatic myself, and not only does it give me a good mix of things to check out, it's just cool. Period. My tastes seem to change from week to week, anyway!

Get some ruuules, I got some ruuules when I throw down...when I do my music threads I got ruuules and shi. Straight up: Only one song, and the album if you like.

Yes! This is a "What's your currect favourite song?" thread. Who cares about listing 5 or 6 or 12 different songs so you can give an eclectic mix; none of that.

Just one song. So choose wisely.

Me, I've had a few months of softer music...lots of Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Johnny Cash, Whiskeytown, Yo La Tengo, Tom Waits, Ron Sexsmith, plus lots of the usual Pink Floyd...stuff like that. Maybe it's just been my mood or what have you.

However, lately I've gotten back into some harder stuff again. Since I've only got one song, it'll have to be the one that I've been playing nonstop for the past quite a while: God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) by I Mother Earth off the album "the Quicksilver Meat Dream".

God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas)

That's an AAC file on my own server, so I'd appreciate if anyone who wanted to check it out right-click and download it to their HD to conserve my precious bandwidth. Thanks...

Post your current favourite song!

EDIT: I know Cash's just being his normal uckwit self, but lyrics is a good idea, considering they're one of the things I love most about music. So.

Undertow, you're thrown
An old God has one bolt left
In flight
An aeroplane in slow motion
While all around are dark days
With all around unsure
I'll hole up in the right place and wait
Until the tide has turned........With anger
I'm dead weight
I'm anchored

The white dove has gone
The one world has come down hard
So why not
Share the pain of our problems
When all around are wrong ways
When all around is hurt
I'll roll up in an odd shape and wait
Until the tide has turned........With anger
I'm dead weight
I'm anchored

Can somebody give me the 'all safe'
Can somebody tell me
I'm so well loved in the glow and stain
In the slow parade, will somebody tell me
I'm so well loved

...And the light that shines
Our road has overstated nothing while all the wine and hope
Are like a hill that you will climb slow for something you could
Not ever have
And when you said, 'Now the dream is dead, our autumns
Will never rise again'
You were right again and it hurts
Wild awesome friends
They face a plain red sober wind and know the pain
For what it is
They're always the ones who slow the drift
Who live for all that's more than this
Who live for all that burns
To choose their words........With anger
And dead weight
They're anchored

Went looking for something good with August
In the rain and all I've ever saved
I'm stuck at the fork that hides
My road
Why does the ground take hold once every
Mile from home?

Having finished the process of ripping most of my cd collection, i got to hear many songs for the first time in a while. The one I can't stop playing these days is:

AFI- Cruise Control

Lyrics:

I will never want to date you while I can learn to hate you.
If you somehow learn to love me, well, that's just my luck.
I would never care if you only wanted my friendship,
but somehow you're disappointed that I'm not a slut.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you, so **** you.
In my mind there is no doubt that you've been in
and out of many different backseats, many times before.
I can always see your defeat when I won't leave the front seat.
And it seems your disappointed that I'm not a whore.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you, so **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you, so **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you.
I don't want to **** you, so **** you.

Thanks Cipher!

My pleasure.

Anyway, I'd have to pick:

Symphony X - The Odyssey

24 minutes and 14 seconds of musical brilliance. Totally unparalleled.

My current favourite, has been for 3 weeks since I saw them in concert...they were the support act for John Mayer and although Mayer was very good, in my opinion he didn't come close to these guys (Lo-Tel, Sydney based band)

Quite nice! I've always meant to get into more Joy Division, but never did get around to it. The Talking Heads as well.....two bands I'm ashamed to admit I know little about. I'll check that one out.

That and t.a.t.u.

About a year ago, I beat the hell out of it. Time to do it again .

I love "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas. That's what came to mind when I tried to think of my favorite song. Although it does vary quite often.

I Believe In A Thing Called Love - The Darkness

Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel
My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel

Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me

I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!

I wanna kiss you every minute, every hour, every day
You got me in a spin but everything is A.OK!

Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me

I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh! Guitar!

Touching you, touching me
Touching you, God you're touching me

I believe in a thing called love
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart
There's a chance we could make it now
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down
I believe in a thing called love
Ooh!

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
