the 800 was dropped to around $999 but it does not have the combo drive and then the 900mhz 12" is $1299 with a 40gig hdd.

it seems to be a 100mhz upgrade and the ability to have a 60gig hdd in there.

And guess what: In a few months there will be newer iBooks released. Powerbooks, too. Oh, then they'll update the iMacs and Powermacs. Then, the iBook will be due for another update... and so on.
Your 800mhz iBook is by no means obsolete, so don't worry about it.

I bought mine about a month and a half ago, and for the time i've used it, i wouldn't trade it for a measly 100mhz that wouldn't really even help that much. I'm glad I got this time out of it thank you very much.

I agree. Incremental bumps in CPU speed alone doesn't give as much overall performance enhancement as one would think. So don't worry about it. Enjoy your new iBook! And put a 512MB memory upgrade in it. Now THAT will make a difference.
