Oh by the way, I'm probably going to order a Gigabit Ethernet PowerBook G4/550 with AirPort and 384 RAM in the begining of November. So, I hope this thread stays up that long. I want both of my setups up.

I will take pictures when I get my Ti. I just got a Canon PowerShot S110, so... I'm ready.

Unfortunately, I cracked my brand-new glass desk, so I'm waiting for two things. My Onyx, and my replacement center glass.

I just got my CDR drive. So my setup is finally complete (it's so beautiful it brings a tear to my eye ) but I have no camera or scanner. So I can't share it with you all.

I ain't gonna even try to put the descriptions on the photo, it's too much of a mess!

Under there somewhere is my old G4/350 (kindly donated because he was struggling with a 7600), Minolta Dimge Scan Dual II film scanner, Microtek Scanmaker E3 flatbed, Zip100 SCSI, Asant FriendlyNet Router, USB ZipCD burner (ugh), Epson 870... and for some weird reason, my old Pioneer LaserDisc player is sitting under it.

Desk is surrounded by random junk. Lots of it. Camera bags, boxes of negs and prints, books, disks, blah blah blah.

So does he make the grade?

Please, I put you all to shame. I have, far and away, the absolute messiest setup you can ever imagine. Think about this. Basement (my room is neat) Ugly PC tower, canon printer, 17"CRT, sound card line out hooked into an circa 1970's integrated record player/amp/8-track!machine. A dual deck cassette recorder perched precariously on top of the record player's plastic cover. The monitor is propped up on two encyclopedias to get it nice and high for the right posture. Two racks of cds off to one side, extra speakers and headphones lying next to the keyboard. Two extra keyboards at the end of the table. My old non-functioning (possibly fixable with a new cord) 17" (in the box for the new one) sitting on the floor behind me, along with a still functioning dot matrix printer and my old HP inkjet. Oh yeah, the 'desk' is an 8-foot long folding table. There's a two drawer steel cabinet and an old bookcase to the left of it. A few other PC parts my brother has scattered around, and an ungodly amount of files, papers, magazines, books, and CD's sprinkled... nay, slathered over top. Did I mention the stackable steel chairs and the ratty beige carpet? Add a few empty cans, a weird pedastle ash tray from the 60's, and an assortment of boxed stuff which (honestly) I've forgotten the contents of -- yet can neither bring myself to throw out nor sort through. -- As far as messy set ups go, I am the undisputed champion, even Patubo's fiance doesn't come close.

If I take a picture, how do I post it?
[edit again] the piece d' resistance: Some ratty acrylic painting left down here buy my parents hangs right behind the monitor.

Looks like we Canucks have a niche that wouldn't amuse Martha Stewart. I printed a screen shot of Patubo's fiance's room, added Matsu's description, and gave it to my wife. Now she knows she's not alone in the world putting up with such dross. I'd post a pic if I could find my WebCam.

The plot thickens. We're getting new sofas, so like all good Italians we're demoting the old ones to the basement, the good ones to the family room, and the new ones to the living room. Soon I'll have my own couch and love seat combination to make my office that much cozier.

I'm gonna snap a pic, and scan it a school, maybe I'll get hold of the departments digital camera (though last time someone said it didn't work) WhenI get the pic I'll send it to you.

yes, one box is a p3-800 running win2k. the other box, at the time, was a c400 redhat box. i had it doing my routing but since i didnt wanna deal with installing usb drivers for my box, i used a separate mouse. those two boxes are sharing the monitor and keyboard through a data switch. the c400 has since been given to a friend to use in college for her box and now i have a p3-733 machine here but the matrox video card/drivers are being a pain in the @$$ right now. stupid Wintel machines...

This was my dorm room the last time this topic came up. Now my room is considerably different. I wouldn't say worse. But that's because I have to live there. I don't want to talk about it. Just click the thumbnail.
