Alright, just a few more hours until the event starts. Let's hear your predictions.
1. iPad 2
- dual core processor
- Facetime cameras
- No retina display
2. Free MobileMe with iTunes locker
3. iOS 5 sneak peak
- Better handling of notifications
- More integration with MobileMe.
- Weather App icon will no longer be static.
4. Steve Jobs will be absent.

iPad 2 for sure.
No Mac announcements aside from mention of Leopard preview.
iOS 5 preview.
Lots of talk about new APIs etc.
Probably won't happen but would be really fun:

-No Steve Jobs
-iPad 2 for sure, called iPad S
-Tim Cook/Phil Schiller/Forstall main presenters
-MobileMe improvements (still don't have much hope for that bag of smashed glass)
-iOS 5 preview (better be damn good, lots of competition: Android 3.0 and webOS)
iPad 2 will have front-facing and rear-facing camera; 2 speakers 16-bit stereo sound; be a bit thinner; same resolution; come in black or white; slightly smaller form factor (smaller bezel); dual core 1.2 GHZ with better GPU; 512 MB RAM.
You can see some specs are tempered improvements... here's why:
Might be 1.25 lbs. If they get it down to this weight, they're going to kill the competition. I love the TouchPad, but weight is a huge factor with tablets. 1.25 lbs. after careful consideration would be an amazing sweet spot for them to hit. I think you're going to see some major reductions in weight: Apple is well aware of the need and call to make the iPad lighter. We'll see if they could come through. I predict they're going to talk about they're main goal being weight reduction. I was disappointed in the TouchPad weighing 1.6 lbs. Has to be under 1.5.
Getting the weight down: glass panels available to Apple are now ~30-40% lighter than previous ones. The glass makes up a large portion of the iPad's weight. The battery makes up another large portion. Those battery patents may apply to the iPad. Better use of internal space, smaller battery, lighter touch panels, thinner design = less material. Modest improvements in hardware (RAM) with dual core (doesn't weigh hardly anything at all), and, AND, half the weight FLASH memory.
They might make the fabled 1.25 lbs.!!!

If mobileme becomes free with an iDevice, then I want a refund of my renewal that happened last month!

Ooh, it's an Apple event where they are releasing a product I'm actually going to buy right away... good times.
I don't think I'm going to have any pizza unfortunately, but I'm going to try and watch. I might end up going home to watch it on my lunch break depending on how busy I am here today.
I'm not even going to bother predicting what we will see, but my prediction is the same as it always is... WE WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!

I wonder if there will be any surprises or if the rumor mill will have had the details pretty spot on. If it's not that notable an upgrade they should have skipped the media event and just done a silent roll out.

The only thing that would disappoint me is if they don't have a 128 GB model. I may be traveling to Greece this year and if the Flash memory is big enough I will be able to leave my laptop at home. My father has a Mac there and I can sync to it if it were to be necessary (I can carry an external drive with a copy of my home directory).

Hadn't occurred to me. With no Jobs they might deem to forgo streaming the likely snoozefest.

Thank you for the link, kind Egyptian underworld deity.
Database problems seem to be returning. And the hampstor was doing so well for so many years!

I love that this place is dead but we're an hour from the event and the server is already panicking.

It's not the server panicking, it's the hampstor. I guess someone refilled his water dispenser because things seem okay right now. I'd love to get a technical explanation for why those database errors happen.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the iPad will feature a retina display, because the background picture on the iPad on the invitation is the "raindrops" picture that was used to feature the high resolution of the iPhone 4's display.

Ugh. Still a $130 premium on 3G. Why Apple?
And separate AT&T/VZW SKUs as well. I'd have predicted less SKUs (one for both carriers, no more Wifi/3G tiers). Meh.
