Since I've installed 10.2.2 I have lost the trash icon in my customised toolbar. I can now no longer put it back there, either.

Any word on whether this is just a temporary bug?

The trash icon? Or did you put an alias of the trash in the toolbar?

I did an Archive and install update to 10.2, and it preserved my Finder prefs, including the Trashcan in the Toolbar. I've still got a 10.1.5 partition on one of my drives, and the one time I dragged the trashcan out of the Toolbar, I couldn't get it back by teh 10.1 trick, so I copied the 10.1 prefs file to my 10.2 partition, and voila!

Do a search on MacOSXHints. They had a how-to on this not to long ago.

Open up the following file in a text editor:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

Add the following section to it, before the </array> line that is five lines from the bottom:

<dict>
<key>item-id</key>
<string>TCAN</string>
</dict>
This will add the trashcan to the end of your toolbar.

(Make a backup of this file first)
