Which one is the dummy? The idiot driving the bug, or the idiot who RAN IN FRONT OF AN OUT-OF-CONTROL CAR.

Hint: the white car is designed to protect your life. Your tennis shoes aren't.

Yeah, he could have got back inside the car, but he was already halfway out the car... I wouldn't want to be clipped by a door hit by another car.

Allegedly only minor injuries, but I can’t confirm so spoiler. Check out the dent the person makes. It’s argued that’s a big reason they didn’t die.

OK, 1: Getting my legs sliced off by another car mashing MY car door into me is a BIG phobia…I’d have run too.

2: Part of preflight SHOULD be “lock the dang door.” Just sayin’.

3: While the pedestrian’s vision was probably quite limited by their hood, the zooming sedan driver owes a bunch of people new cars. And he/she/it owes the pedestrian all their medical bills PLUS fresh clothes. The physics of why the pedestrian didn’t get squished seem to be that the spinning SUV imparted a “swat” to the ped, which might have been added to by the way the fender crumpled. Either way - and maybe thanks to the SUV’s designers - it bounced him/her out of the way very effectively. Further, with the way he/she was bundled up, and the amount of snow around, it looks like bruising and maybe broken ribs would be expected - possibly a fracture of the “SUV side” arm too…

In for “the rest of the story” for all three…

I don’t remember this, but I’ve driven past there countless times. It’s on the artery along the southwest coast of Lake Michigan.

As for the two on the bike, they were properly dressed, and it looks like the passenger was fine when everything stopped.

It looks to me like the trucker either ignored the road, or just “came to” as the truck moved into the exit lane. Like “oh crap, that’s my exit!!!” Only he wasn’t driving his Eclipse…

I searched high and low for some kind of update. No name ever released so no way to easily check if charges were filed. All the contemporary reports noted none had at the moment.

The conjecture is the trucker was checking his mirrors or something.

Is it splitting when it’s on the median?

Lane splitting. Not skull splitting.

Yeah, that's not lane splitting, that's passing on a blind curve in a no passing zone.

A second view shows my “lane splitting” statement was off target. It was worse. Trying to pass in about the worst possible situation is what the rider was doing.

My guess: cross wind from the right. They didn't secure the load inside, so it all slid to the left side of the truck. Also, this Ford needs a dashcam.

And the crowd goes wild. Judges? 10s all around!

That’s one expert gymnastics coach. The girl had too much speed coming off the bar, and she planted with her arms. He grabbed her, slowed her down, and then - when she stuck her hands on the mat - rolled over her.

I guarantee he didn’t know he was going to do that until it was over. But nobody got hurt, which is the key here.

We've had strong gale / storm winds the last two days here in central/northern Europe. (It's calmed down since yesterday.)
That looks like a furniture truck loaded with mattresses or sofas or so. Not so much a question of secured load, but of lack of weight for the format for the kind of weather we've been having.

Well that didn’t work out well, did it?

Turning ACROSS a lane on a blind curve? (Cue Sam Elliot) “He’s a special kind of stupid.”

As I said: “special kind of stupid.” I hope nobody got badly hurt, though it looks like the dash cam vehicle was going fast enough to do quite a bit of harm.

My cat used to get caught like that trying to jump in the hamper. Until I put weights in the bottom, she’d usually pull the whole thing over.

Yeah, the pad was the target. With this sort of thing I think you’re supposed to “step off” the platform, not “dive off”. It looks like there’s someone kinda breaking the the speed of the rope, but there’s no way to control how far from the tower the guy can go. That’s gotta be the “falling guy’s” job.

And I hope he’s OK, because otherwise he didn’t learn anything from his mistake.

I’m sure I’ve told this story before where I was on a shoot in Virginia, and we decided to go to the ocean on our day off. Goth Assistant Camera looks at the map and sees “Slaughter Beach” in Delaware. She insists that’s where we had to go.

We get there and learn the reason it’s called Slaughter Beach is because that’s where all the horseshoe crabs go to die.

Whatever. We drove all this way, I’m going in the ocean.

A few days later I notice a couple things.

The first is Slaughter Beach isn’t on the ocean, it’s on Delaware Bay, which is where all the shit from New Jersey ends up.

The second is all my skin started to flake off.

Woops!

Not my woops story, but on that same shoot.

We rented a jib arm (think 6’ crane) from a guy… let’s just say he was “Appalachian American”.

On the side of his total piece of shit van was giant photo of a fried chicken drumstick. Easily 8 feet long.

We asked what that was about, and he said it was from a shoot he did for Tyson Chicken.

They had 18-wheelers done up in vinyl Tyson livery, but it hadn’t been attached properly and fell off the side of the truck. Early lunch was called to fix it, and before our rental guy left to eat he made fun of the vinyl guys for being fuckups.

Comes back from lunch, and there’s a drumstick on his van. The vinyl guy said “we made sure to put this one on really good… it’s never coming off”.

(also this is weston not boston so it would not DARE be polluted.)

But yeah avoid beaches with dead things. See also dead pogies.

It’s a little hard to tell in the GIF, but I think the woman is carrying a handbag.

If it’s a stunt, well, there’s a detail that fuckin’ sells it, but it’s a lot of extra risk for something that might not even get noticed.

Conversely, I know it seems improbable they’d keep holding hands if this was for real, but I find it equally improbable she doesn’t fling her handbag, yet this is exactly what happened.

I’m still on the fence.

OK, that was NOT what I expected to see.

HOW did the guy blow up that huge pistol? HOW?!?!? You can see the part of the frame that the barrel is threaded into just fail. That revolver is about the size that would handle those stupid-huge rounds like “.500 S&W Magnum,” a cartridge for killing whole forests of trees in one shot.

And now I have flashed back to Johnny Dangerously:

So. Why. Did. The. Front. Fall. Off?
