This is my new 17" 1.5GHz Powerbook on a custom aluminum stand that I built and posted here in this thread last week. (See pg 25 of this thread)
Please let me know what you think, and if you want one. If I get enough interest I may build some just for those of the MacNN community. Also I want to add that this DOES NOT SLIDE OFF. I have to push very hard to get it to move off of the stand. The Powerbook's feet do a good job of holding it on and keeping it up off of the aluminum.
Below is a link to a page I created with lot's of different pictures of it on the stand. Just go to:
www.deskstands.net
UPDATE: These stands are now available for purchase.

Make it where you can overhang the PowerBook's keyboard over an external keyboard (to get the screen closer to your eyes) and I'd be interested.

very nice. i'd love one for my 15". not to be anal about this, but maybe it's cause your PB is new and the feet is still sticky. after a while, mine got softer, and it becomes easier to slide around on the desk.
but i guess we can always put any kind of non-skid material on it to make it stick if and when it becomes a problem.
care to give me a quote on the stand?

I was just discussing this over at spymac.com and got a very helpful hint from the CEO at DVForge.com. I was wrong about the not sliding part. This is because my feet are new and was not aware that over time they would loose their "grip". I will be making a change by adding foot pads to the stand itself. These will be recessed into the aluminum so that the adhesive does not "slide" off the aluminum and stays put. The new pads will also be made of a better compound and have a larger surface area to better grip onto the Powerbook's underside. Once this modification is complete I will see who wants one and in what size. Thank You.
UPDATE: These are now available for purchase.

Ormnik, that stand is pure beauty. Congrats!
Would you consider making a version for the 12" PowerBook? I most never use it at the desk with an open lid, but just because your stand is so gorgeous I think I should change that habit.
What's your quote on that stand? If it's not too expensive I'll take 2. Honestly (home and office).

No, that alone won't work. At least one of the books has to be green and titled 'Psychology'.

Ormnik,
I'd be concerned for some people that are rather mobile with their laptops. What I mean is, how is the stand going to handle people placing the laptops on it and then trying to connect a firewire camera, a USB drive, printer, iPOD, etc. Will they need to hold the other side of the laptop or will it tend to slide? Something to think about to possibly make improvements on a great design.

I see an iCurve and an Apple keyboard box in the background, and instead of showing us your setup you show a pic of yourself with the PB on your lap???? I think this pic needs to be redirected to the lounge picture thread.

nothing ...
i bet the mock complaints are due to:
1) all those pictures of laptop stands ... people start wanting to see new stands and set ups...
2) we cant replicate his lap =P
Personally i dont have an issue .. just my 2 cents on why others would complain (hopefully jokingly)

I did not complain, I think it is great. Honestly, I think a thread where people show off their Powerbooks and themselves would be really cool, and besides a great way to know the faces of the people around here.
And also it would probably show off some exciting uses of the PB.

I mostly do weddings and low end music videos. Although i would love to do a feature but I still need alot more equipment for a feature. Thats why I'm doing weddings to get the funds to move to the next level. As far as documentaries go... i love the stuff Frontline is putting out... especially the latest one "The Persuaders"... I also like Commanding Heights. http://www.pbs.org/frontline
