This has been a paid advertisement from the creators of Nisus Writer Pro.

Now I know why Nisus Pro is so expensive.

Because of the costly ads on MacNN.

sadly not a paid advertisement. I just happen to like it a lot.

I also happen to hate word. even word 2011. I hate endnote even more but fortunately now Papers does what I need endnote for (be a reference manager that works)...

anyway, the new version is out and it looks pretty good. for me it's not too expensive (academic licence etc) but hey.

surprised no-one else cares, but each to their own. I will go back to my pit now...

I, too, like NWP 2, and join threestain in his recommendation. Even the upgrade price, well, I paid for the last upgrade in 2007, so that means this one is $49 or $5/year price. (Yes, I know, the price goes forward, but you get the idea.)

I have been using Nisus Writer (System 6-9 from 1991-2003) and Nisus Writer Pro (OS X since 2003). It is a competent, powerful program that is also easy to use. Is it perfect? No. But I use it regularly with Mellel (especially for Hebrew projects) and between them they meet all my needs.
Ignore the argumentative nature of this poster. He is old and can't engage in meaningful dialog
very long. Therefore, management asks that you at least humor him. Thanks.

When I was in college I used Nisus Writer Pro and it's still the best, easiest, fastest word processor around (sorry Mellel and Bean). I don't feel the new features are worth the upgrade price but NWP and NWE are both excellent.
