I'm just wondering if OS X.2 will support the DVD format UDF 2.0, which is the format that DVD-Video Recording mode uses for the set top decks. These decks include Panasonic's (using DVD-RAM), and Pioneer's own DVR-7000 (on DVD-RW).

If OS X.2 supported UDF 2.0, and some Mac software supported DVD-VR, then that'd be a killer combination with a SuperDrive Mac. ie. Record your stuff on a standalone DVD recorder, edit it on your Mac, and then make new DVDs with it.

If not, then I guess I'll have to do all this stuff on my PC.

Hmmm.. No comments?

UDF 2 is the most recent version of the UDF format for DVD discs, and is used with DVD-VR by such units as:

Panasonic/Samsung/Toshiba DVD-RAM recorders.
Hitachi/Panasonic camcorders.
Sony/Pioneer DVD-RW recorders, etc.

Is Apple just deciding to sit this one out? Seems odd to me, especially with Apple supposedly being at the forefront of multimedia technology.

I don't actually know, but I'm guessing that if you don't see anything about something that significant on their website, they're not supporting it yet. UDF 2 sounds like something they'd throw a fit about on apple.com...

Well, I found this software that does it in OS 9, but so far nothing seems to exist for OS X.
