For the US, they should have made Alaska and Hawaii a separate option. For Russia, they should give the choice between Western, Eastern, or all.

It may not look like a lot, but let me tell you—getting around in the Caribbean Basin can be a pain! Anyway, here's mine:

It's REALLY hard to see some of the countries in the Caribbean, but I have been to the Caymans and Jamaica, along with Panama and Honduras. Add all three North American countries, and that's quite a bunch.

Glenn, how were you able to avoid being deployed overseas all those years ? That's a remarkable feat.

I WAS deployed. To Panama and Honduras. I actually volunteered to go to the Middle-East twice, and was told twice that I was "too vital" to the mission I was in. That actually hurt me in promotion opportunities, because almost everyone else had been in Kuwait, Saudi, Qatar, Yemen, Afghanistan or Iraq, while I had less "currently interesting" jobs like being responsible for ensuring the operation of the only C-5 capable airfield in Central America... Ah well, their "who gets promoted" games are not important to me anymore.

I was totin' my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road,
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load.
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside.
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand.
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land!"

I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the deserts bare, man.
I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.

I've been to:
Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota,
Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota,
Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma,
Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma,
Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo,
Tocapillo, Baranquilla, and Perdilla, I'm a killer.

I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the deserts bare, man.

I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.

Did you fly C-5s? If so, or if you were on a C-5 crew, that's awesome! There was a C-5 here at McChord last week for a day or so. They always make the C-17s seem so small...

Loved loved loved it.

Marred only by two points:

1) I was there with my parents.

2) I was only there just over a week.

Onwards to Fiji and Tahiti, though, so...

I love Oceania.

I'm from NZ, now expatriated to East Asia. I've never been to Fiji or Tahiti, but I was in Tonga for a couple of weeks on route to Hawaii.

In Tonga, I was followed along the beach and given presents of shells and coconut flesh by curious island children. In Hawaii, I was verbally abused in slipshod English by a Chinese hawker for looking at, but deciding not to purchase, one of his battery-operated Hula Dolls.

That says it all, really. Tonga is beautiful in every way, but Hawaii is a tourist trap.

I flew ON a C-5 to get back and forth to Panama, and on my first trip down to Honduras. Most of my trips back and forth between the States and Honduras were on Continental's 737s. (This is really on topic!) When you take off from the capital, Tegucigalpa, you go either toward rather steep mountains, or downhill toward the road around the airport. When heading north, it's toward the mountains. EEEKKKK! The ONLY time I've ever been on an airplane that took off at "full military power" it was on one of those 737s leaving Tegucigalpa! It's a thrill, but one that isn't as much fun as a roller coaster.

While the C-5 is impressive, the C-17 is actually more airplane with less shop time. And you can tell every C-5 is ancient; they smell, they're dingy and dirty and just plain "old" looking. C-17s are still clean and they don't smell. But if you want a real taste of "old airplane" ride on a C-130. Like from Little Rock to San Antonio... I love Hercs, but they are NOT "comfort airplanes."

Tahiti was gorgeous.
