My G4 MDD 2x867 (10.4.6) occasionally wakes from machine or display sleep with a scrambled and frozen display.

I have seen a message in the system log

"kernel:graphics chip error - restarted".

However I have seen this message without a screen scramble.

The graphics card is the original 32Mb Geforce 4MX running a first version 23inch cinema display with ADC connection.

If I was sure it was a graphics card fault I would probably upgrade to a core image compatibe card.

Thanks for any inputs

Mike

Even if it's not the graphics card, it's worth upgrading it at this point just to get rid of that slow 32mb card. Chances are it'll fix your problem, too.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably go the route you suggest.
