Basically, if you have 2 grand and someone told you that you can have only one computer for the rest of your life . . . . wouldn't you pick the new iMac too?

If I were forced to choose right now which computer I could have for the rest of my life it would be my Alienware, simply because of the power it has. Once Apple makes a Macbook with a non intel integrated videocard in it I might change my mind

I agree, ONE computer would have to be a MacBook Pro.
For the housebound, though, an iMac hands down
And for under $1000, also, iMac hands down.
As for PCs, they are only options if stability, productivity and security do not matter. But for me they do But I would LOVE a 13" or smaller Mac laptop with a real GPU!

For my needs and tastes, the iMac is the fastest and most elegant computer I've ever used.

i just bought my girlfriend a refurbished mac mini g4 for christmas. i chose a g4 for her specific applications (no rosetta) but i'm sure this will be far from the best desktop ever made.

Who said it would be the best ever made? I would choose it cause it is small, and upgradable. Maybe not the G4 ones but the newer Intel based ones are. So many uses for them little Mini's

i may get one of the intel ones myself if my imac g4 ever dies. the fan is a little louder than it used to be (it's 4 and a half years old) but other than that i have no complaints and it does what i want it to. you can't beat the specs on the new imacs, but for me i just can't get over the way they look.
