MacBook Vs MacBook Pro Screen Birghtness

Hi Guys,
I recently bought my first ever Mac and its a 17" MBP. I have had no complaints whatsoever until my girlfriend came over yesterday with her Macbook. Compared to her screen my screen seemed awfully dim.
Both machines had their settings set at maximum brightness.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?
Should I take mine back to Apple?

My MB is only slightly brighter than my 15 inch MBP

I'm getting a MBP this/next week, is the brightness really better on the MacBook?  aww, didn't expect that from the Pro.

I think they should be about the same. The 15mbp is a little brighter than both because of aggressive use of Brightness enhancing filter , but the other two should be similar in brightness. I would take it back to the store and compare it with another 17"....

My 17" is the brightest laptop screen I have had, starting with the Duos. I prefer a bright screen and my 17" MBP is bright enough that I generally keep the brightness of my MBP adjusted below maximum brightness. I always left all of my previous laptops (G4s, G3s and earlier) permanently set to max brightness.
I agree with Pete; the relevant comparison is to go to a store and compare to other 17" MBPs to see if yours is defective.
