I'm going to be headed off the grid for a few days, but would still like to use devices (all my books are on there after all).

Amazon's listings for solar chargers are suspect, and after buying a few iphone battery cases that didn't work or were outright forgeries, I'd prefer to buy direct or get a real brand name to look for.

Anyone use a solar charger, or have any suggestions? I have a few battery packs.

The ones we sold at my former job in a former life were among the "good" ones, and they all sucked.

Which is to say, they worked, but they'd take a whole day of sunlight to charge the phone to get through the night.

This is what the stuff on amazon is saying. Basically you're buying a battery pack, and maybe it will charge via solar as a bonus.

handcranking seems like it would get old fast.

Maybe I just charge up all the packs I have and call it good.

All I can recommend is supplementing them with one of those monster-size packs which is too big and heavy to practically carry in a pocket.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00X5...z2L&ref=plSrch

This is maybe half the size of a paperback. 20K mAh

The phone case batteries are too small to be of any value.

I have this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(you can get a similar wattage panel for less probably)

Use the battery at night to charge devices, and recharge the battery by day with the sun.

Works amazingly well with a couple of these. https://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-Wate...SPY80G07Z5DCGE
