I want one BAD! I've been holding out so long for one that I now don't care what it looks like, what features it has, or how much it costs. I think Apple waited so long on purpose. To make people like me want one so badly they don't care about features or anything else.

What do I want for Christmas? MONEY! So I can get an iPhone later.

He was right with the nano. we shall see.

I like the every carrier thing. I was worried about that.
With some loud music + a friend to chat nearby you can get alot done. - but jezz, I'd avoid it if I had the choice---- If only real people came with Alpha Channels.......:)

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

A lot of posters wrote about this when the topic concerned cameras on MacBooks and Apple still ended up including it. To Apple, the market must seem much larger for those who it doesn;t matter if an camera is included or not.

what would it do to the price of the computer if the camera was an option?

Being a Sprint customer, I was resigned to sitting it out for a couple of years or - if it was so cool I couldn't resist - paying to get out of my contract. Then along comes Mr. Rose and his "all carriers" proclamation.

As much as I'd like to believe that, it's hard to picture a cool phone coming out for CDMA at the same time as its GSM release. Sounds like a logistical unlikelihood.

Guess we'll know in a little more than a month.

Maybe the company that owns the trademark to "iPhone" and sells a VOIP service using that name is announcing something new on Monday. That Gizmodo post is evasive in a way that makes me suspect it'll turn out to be technically correct, but not Apple-related at all..

Why hasn't apple announced a select keynote?

What is the point announcing it a week before christmas when there isn't enough time to oder one as a gift?

I'm sure many people are getting a phone for Christmas and it has already been purchased and placed under the tree.

Ya, except for the last minute crowed I guess.

Funny thing is I bought my boyfriend a new spiffy cellphone from Xmas 2 weeks ago. My friend just bought a treo for her boyfriend for Xmas 2 days ago.

Even that aside IF Apple announced the phone on Monday with immediate shipping they still take 24 hours to process and you'll have to fork over some extra cash to have expedited shipping to have it by Xmas if you are lucky.

That isn't even taking into account the word of the must have phone getting out there to non-geeks like us.

Steve likes his big showie product announcements and as far as I know nobody got an invite to a keynote on Monday.

If they announced it a month ago it would have made more sense.

IMHO, the iPhone will stink if it is crippled by the phone providers... and there is no way the phone providers are going to let Apple profit off of their services.

I'm going to have a hard time believing this dude again.

"According to Kevin, who, to his credit, accurately predicted one of Apple's most secretive and hyped launches of 2005, the iPod nano, the iPhone will feature the following:

- January launch on "all" providers, both CDMA and GSM
- Extremely small form factor
- Two battery design (with single charger) -- one for playing music, the other for phone functions
- Flash memory: 4GB for $249, 8GB for $449
- Slide-out keyboard
- Possibly touchscreen"

Well, at least he got the storage size correct.

Some of the millions of iPhone articles have said that Apple used decoys when communicating with 3rd parties, and even Apple employees, about the iPhone. Kevin Rose was either just speculating, or was duped by a decoy.

Depending on how many decoys Apple used, it's possible they could narrow down the source of any leaks.

I find it hard to believe Apple ever had a model with a keyboard especially that late in the game.

Kevin Rose knows nothing about anything. He is overhyped. His success has been created by people making links on his forum that he calls a website. User generated content. Kevin generated nothing worthy.

Yes, that CDMA part especially didn't make sense. And what's the point of a two battery design?

Apple didn't show anything to anyone. They kept this secret for over 30 months. People who were insiders and developing pieces of it didn't even know anything about it. They were only given the information they needed to perform their tasks. People at cingular, yahoo and google saw nothing. People inside apple saw nothing. Whoever was responsible for keeping this a secret and putting the fear of god in apple employees via a NDA did a fantastic ****ing job. Do you honestly believe they decided to leak ANYTHING to some techgeek with a popular website?

So your phone battery can die and you can complain that the thing still plays music but you're ****ed regardless cause you can't make a phonecall.

In true Apple fashion, the iPhone announcement showed how EVERYONE was just plain WRONG about EVERYTHING (with the exception of a hit on a random guess when the rest were all misses).

This is why Apple keeps things secret. It keeps the fun in the keynote.
