Sigh less then a year after I get Toast 8 and just over year after Toast 8 comes out, Roxio has announced Toast Titanium 9. All that seems new is features for creating Video DVD's or HD/Blue-Ray stuff.
Some info from the Spam they sent me
- Video cropping and trimming features let you easily remove unwanted segments.
- Enjoy your HD camcorder video or high-resolution slideshows on HDTV or standard DVD discs.
- Watch your recorded TiVo or EyeTV shows via the Internet - stream video from your Mac to your iPhone or any Internet-connected Mac or PC!
- Create custom DVD video compilations and save time and disc space with batch DVD conversions.
- Personalize your discs with new standard or high-definition menu styles.
- Compatible with Mac OS X v. 10.5 Leopard.
I don't see any compelling reason to upgrade from Toast Titanium 8.

Yer right about the new Toast ...it should've been a version 8.5 upgrade instead of a full-up 9 revision. Roxio is a bit greedy this time around.
Unless of course you just came on to Leopard, or happen to need Blu-Ray discmaking. I'm 0 for 2 there but still a happy Tiger tamer using T7.

To me the nicest new 'feature' is the new app icon, go figure…

The Streamer.app looks interesting. I like the new icon too :-)

Toast 9 Feature Comparison
The 'why upgrade' list.
Anyway, what's this Streamer? I am intrigued but I'm not sure. What can it do and what can't it do?
Can you share all your videos on the web? Or is there a catch?

Streamer lets you stream video from your home Mac. You can watch video on your Mac or iPhone when you're away from home.

Now includes Audio Hijack type features. Sure it might be a tad bit "let's make this a swiss army knife of apps". but it seems to add quite a few compelling features.

I can't believe they still don't support multiple drives simultaneously without having to duplicate the app.
Tip:, make sure you copy the the DVD themes from inside Toast 8 -> Contents -> Resources -> Toast DVD Styles to the corresponding folder inside T9 if you want them all.
The new burning dialog, while arguably more attractive than Toast 8's is VERY Windows-like. Blargh.
