Indeed. For those special themers who are also members of the press, check out some good source images here: http://www.apple.com/pr/photos/ilife/ilife04.html

Would anyone here be interested in doing this for a contest at MacThemes, with some software licenses as a prize? Just curious...

Those buttons in the first photo look a lot like Milk.

But a theme based off of this would be awesome! It would look kinda like a combo of Black Aqua & Milk.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to ask this question.

The woodgrain on the sides is an interesting touch. I assume it's to try to look like an old mixing console.

I am absolutely going to make this theme. Music is one of the most important things in my life and Ive been hoping for something like GarageBand for a long time. This will be my focus when JetBlack is complete.

Not for any contest though since its not an original work.

Excellent. Swiz, are those side wooden borders even possible? Though I'm sure if not, Jason Harris could probably warp the confines of reality around it

Of all the interfaces to copy...

Why on earth would you want such a mish mash as your entire OS theme? With wooden panels? lol.

I'm usually optimistic, but this just don't look right.

Please, pretty please, no-one make a theme that has the wood in it, I mean, look at the rest of the App, it's gorgeous, the charcoal black/grey, that is style.

Yeah, the fake wood takes away from the black/charcoal. Man, swiz I'm anxious to see your theme for this one.

yeah, the overall darkness of the app. looks really good, not sure how the gradient will work, but it'd be sweet to pull it off. The widgets and so on are pretty polished, looks a bit like that other dark theme kicking around just now, the one with the blue highlights for text. nice.

P.s. Nothing against the wood look, except my own personal taste, but not sure that it would work with the black as an overall system look. Maybe those who like wood could knock up one based on that?

It is one of the most ugly mix of random looking elements... The wood in the window is the worst part... But really, wood, Aqua scroll bars, metal buttons, and milk looking buttons. What is that?!

However a mishmash this theme is, I like it

It is truly different, and daring for Apple. As I look closer, it seems that the dark brushed metal is actually a dark wood, and the mix of black/wood gives it a look reminiscent of audio equipment, as I mentioned before.

The white buttons are a bit strange, and perhaps they are unnecessary consistency flaws. However, I'm all for the wood!

The speakers are cool, but I think Apple did a bad job capturing that. It would be more black and have no Aqua in it if it were well done. I have no clue where the white buttons are from ether...

Amen, brutha.

You know what would look cooler? When I was watching to presentation, I couldn't figure out what the orange on the sides was suppsoed to be. I thought it might be shiny copper. Now you wouldn't want windows whose whole interface was bright shiny metallic orange-red (copper), but if you did it on just the sides, with the rest having that charcoal look, it would really rock, IMO.

Also, how about that blue, digital number readout? That looks really sweet too.

When I saw the presentation I thought the red sides were a glitch due to poor quality of video and I didn't know why Apple had given it a black brush. Not to mention they killed the whole "i" naming thing. If it doesn't start with an "i"...should it belong with the other iApps? hmm, so how may interfaces do we have now? "Aqua", "Brushed", "Pro" and "Burnt Brushed with wood on the sides and strange white buttons"? This is getting out of hand.

I really like the faux wood look. It's nice to seen something different.
In this situation, with GarageBand being such a specialized app I think having it's own interface is not a bad thing. I hope swiz does take the time to copy things the way they are. If he decides the white buttons are not right and the faux wood does not fit right then it just becomes another dark theme.

Man, that is one FUGLY app GUI!!!

I don't really care what GUI Apple uses, I happen to like brushed metal and Panther's Aqua, but I just wish they would pick ONE and stick with it.

I was just thinking about a theme! Just need to make a black aqua button/scroll, paste in the GB background, and maybe do a little more work. It could be a less, well, intimidating black theme, if you could do it Swiz.

My money is still AA and Omega till I see a preview.

MacDog, the GB GUI looks better than regular Aqua if it had a little adjustments. But I must say, SmoothStripes looks nice, if I had a to use a light theme.

Keep the wood!

I like the contrast of old & new, the hint of retro. The wood makes this app look like an old mixing board & is also reminiscent of the way speakers used to look. It's an important element of the GUI, so I hope the wood shows up in the Garage Band theme when Swiz releases it.

Remember when Chrysler rolled out the PT Cruiser? They even had one model w/ wood panels on the side like the old woody station wagons. My point is, wood is often used in places it doesn't really belong and it still looks great.

Wood paneling on the PT? Well, besides the design of the car is horrible, wood paneling looks HORRIFIC!

Do NOT use the wood or milk buttons. Make it look like a black version of aqua, or Brushed.

And if you don'tI will

If the wood and milk like buttons are not used then how would the theme be considered like GarageBand?

I agree especially with the wood... Swiz has said that if possible, he will include this in the true to life version. (He of course will have his own "Swiz" version.)

Sorry for late post.
I just think the wood and milky buttons are fugly. I think if you just made something like GB with a black aqua interface, it'd look pretty nice. Better yet, a black smoothstripes. That'd look pretty cool, IMO.
