ipad can't send mobileme mail

On two iPads, mobileme mail gets stuck on 'sending'. It periodically will say that smtp.me.com failed. I've tried deleting the account to no avail. I can receive email and browse the internet no problem.
Possibly related, I upgraded my router to a Time Capsule at about the same time this started happening, but I can't be sure it is the problem. I have an iMac on the same wireless network that can send email from the same address.

I've had no problems with this, but I don't have a time capsule.

It used to work beautifully until last night. I can also send without problems from Mail on my iPad using a gmail acct.

I can't send email via smtp.me.com today, either.
MacBook, 10.6.4 here.
It's not your iPad.

There's something odd going on with MobileMe. My iPhone shows my up-to-date messages - the web interface isn't updating itself, so I'm only seeing messages from yesterday. Definitely not your iPad.

Seems to be working again. I wonder if my imac worked because I have an old .Mac smtp server in their as well. I know it will cycle through them if one fails.
