Is it me or this song is a complete copy of U2's style????

Me and my GF were sure that U2 was playing at the radio and then realised with disgust that it was Coldplay! Lame

U2 sucks. Bono is the cockiest son of a bitch I've ever seen. "The Edge"... yeah, whatever. And, their bassist should just stop playing music. Simply horrible.

Duh ! ONE song (out of 12) sounds like U2, from a band that has without a doubt successfully created their own style. WTF is your problem ?

OK they might not suck completely... but I hear in forums they get "too inspired" by bands like U2 and Interpol. That's it.

I like a couple of songs from them , I must admit.

While I don't think the new single sounds anything like U2, I do think Coldplay's two singles from their latest album are really bloody boring. I've always enjoyed Coldplay, but their latest offering is a let down.

U2? Nah, I'll go with the prevailing opinion that they've borrowed more from Radiohead and especially Travis.

More along the lines that they're copying their style. The song freaking sounds almost exactly like Clocks. I mean the piano riff is almost identical.

I've heard Coldplay's style more compared to Pink Floyd.

I will investigate as I'm a Pink Floyd nut.

Will report back.

I like both Pink Floyd and Coldplay, but I'm not sure they'd be my first recommendation to a Floyd fan. Check out The Secret Machines if you want newer and more Floyd-like music (and especially if you like any Radiohead... it's sort of like a cross between the two)

I'm with him. While I'm not a megafan of either band, I don't mind a little of either band most of the time. They have a similar style in the sense that they're producing very broadly appealing music. This sells a lot of records, while alienating a lot of the super specialized genre kids who know all about this or that type of sub-screemo-pop-punk, or whatever it is now.

How can someone take a band like U2 with a back catalogue like what they have, and just make a blanket statement about them? Thats just lazy. I doubt you've given them a fair listen being biased because of their mainstream appeal.

Actung baby is superb, as is many of their other albums.

Coldplay is a little samey for me, and this newest album, from what I've heard (not much) seems a little too safe for me. That piano riff is indeed too similar, not to mention the snare drum playing the same beat as clocks.

All I know is that if I hear this song one more time I'm gonna plug a toaster into the bathroom, get in the bathtub, slash my wrists, drop the toaster in, and then shoot myself in the head.

Just been listening to X&Y recently, and the song 'Till Kingdom Come' caught my attention. It soulds a lot like the stuff off Nebraska(Bruce Springsteen) and some of his more recent stuff as well. It's all good though...just struct a chord(a good one) to hear this style again.

Cheers

I thought so, too.

BTW, has anyone noticed how Creed's "My Sacrifice" video is kind of eerily similar to the Katrina devastation?
