I was making coffee this morning when, suddenly, my iPhone (iOS 14.8.1) starts playing music. It was the iOS Music app playing some Sophie Turner cut. The thing is, I don’t have any music on my phone. None. WTF?

Thinking Apple was doing some boneheaded auto-push of xmas music, I asked my wife if her phone did the same thing, but hers didn’t.

Any ideas why this happened? And how do I stop it happening again?

Perhaps a calendar event? This being a notable holiday, some schedule told Music to play a song.

Where did the Music app say the song was playing from? What was the file source?

This may be a dopey question, but do you not have any music on your phone, or did you just not put music on your phone.

If it’s the latter, iTMS purchases may be auto-loading.

No insight on the auto-play, though.

Nothing scheduled. Unlike most folks here, I pretty much use my phone as a phone. I live a pretty boring life, so there’s nothing on the calendar or schedule.

I didn’t see any source identified.

I looked again, and it turns out I have three songs on my phone. None of them are the song that was played, though. I never purchased the song, nor is it on any of my devices.

I keep AirPlay turned off unless I plan to use it, which is very rarely.

I’d double check on that setting. Like I said, it’s a shot in the dark, but ya never know.

Both AirPlay and AirDrop are locked-down tight.
