ipod cannot startup

hi all
i have a problem with my ipod nano 8GB
when i want start my ipod (listen music), my ipod does nothing... absolutely nothing
like i have no battery
and when i plug my ipod into the computer, my ipod does again nothing (no lights, no startup... nothing)
does anyone know what is wrong, what can i do about this?

Plug it into your computer, hold down the menu button and the centre button. That is a kind of force restart, if it doesnt work, report back and i'll think of something else.

I don't know why it does it, but what i said tends to fix loads of problems with ipods, some of my friends think i'm a genius!
