Barracuda has today announced the release of CudaLaunch, an application for both iOS and Android devices that provides mobile workers secure and remote access to an organization's private cloud applications and networks through the widely-used Barracuda NG Firewall. The application is designed for both mobile workers and IT administrators, with end-user features for productivity, as well as management features for administrators.
For end users, CudaLaunch presents an interactive Launchpad that provides easy and secure access to internal web applications hosted in the private cloud. The Launchpad also provides easy access to IP Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections for other clients, such as Remote Desktop or Voice-over-IP (VoIP) applications, to communicate securely from outside the firewall.
On iOS, CudaLaunch manages native IPsec VPN profiles. On Android platforms, it uses Barracuda's own proprietary TINA VPN protocol providing additional security and performance. CudaLaunch provides a more responsive interface and a better user experience across mobile platforms over browser-based remote access methods.
Designed to be self-configuring, CudaLaunch provides IT administrators with easy central management for large deployments. The application's access control policies are inherited from the Barracuda NG Firewall, which provides one place to manage unified security policies across different types of remote access, including CudaLaunch, SSL VPN, Barracuda Network Access Client and standard IPsec VPN connections.
CudaLaunch checks and updates new VPN configurations when started, streamlining both initial set up as well as ongoing maintenance of VPN connections on client devices. In addition, CudaLaunch has consistent interfaces across both iOS and Android devices.
CudaLaunch is available for download from the
Apple iTunes App Store and
Google Play Store. CudaLaunch requires Barracuda NG Firewall version 6.1.1 and higher with the Barracuda NG Basic and Premium Remote Access subscriptions.
