I dunno which to go with. It's hard to make the open states if the folder use the sunken badges sense the right side of the folder need to change angle so the badges will be indistinct in the open states.
Ok. I say go with the glowing one then

Sweet! I like on top, sunken is too hard to read

Yippee
You're right, sunken, but make the color more noticable, say light gray

Not a bad mockup, but I think the glow isn't bright enough... It should be almost white in the brightest parts, and have more outer-glow.

Sunken glowing would be best. Also, there's something about the white interior of the folder that I find quite tasty.

Maybe instead of glowing or sunken or glowing and sunken, you could see how it looks cut-out so that the white folder interior shows through.

If folders can be made with an "open state", could they not be made with, for example, a sunken logo that glows when something is dragged to it? Like a button that lights up when pressed on a theme such as shinobi? Why should we stick to the obvious representation of an opened folder?

That's so cool!
I downloaded the WOA Rev 2s the other day, but haven't installed them yet because I am using NEOS at the mo, so favor dark folders. I was going to switch to iStyle for a bit next week, so I would have known then. Now I understand Dave's comment!
You should definitely do something like that!

I hope Bombia has decided on a style by now, otherwise we'll be waiting forever for these little beauties! Every day someone thinks of a new style and everyone else says "Yeah, that's cool - do that!". I'm sure whatever Bombia decides on will be awesome. I can't wait for the release! Perhaps Omega will be out by then!

This cutout version is very cool:
Although it isn't bombia's.
Of Bombia's designs, I prefer this etched technique:
applied to this folder:
The sunken is much classier than the stand up glowing glyph.
However, if you are worried about the sunken version being harder to identify at smaller sizes, the smaller icons could change to a standup glyph.
I agree with Ozzpot's comment. Open states don't need to always show an open folder.
Lateral thinking can produce some impresive results at times.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.
