Hey people,

I've just upgraded to QT 7.0.2 thru sofware update, and seem to have lost many features such as play selection only, which I use a lot in presentations. I have tried the reverter and the features are still locked out. Are Apple forcing us to buy a key for these features, 'cause its the end of the academic year, and I'm broke!! Shouldn't an update improve perfomance and features, not reduce them?

Anyone got any suggestions of how to regain these features without HAVING to buy a key??

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Check out apple.com. There's a way to go back.

You truly cannot afford the fee for a QT Pro key? I'm sorry to hear that. I know teachers complain about pay, but if it's truly that critical I'm surprised you haven't moved to another job or field. Please realize I'm not trying to be disrespectful.

The QuickTime Pro key only unlocks features of QuickTime Player and the QuickTime browser plug-in. QuickTime itself is always unlocked! So if you don't want to spend money on QuickTime Pro, go to Versiontracker and search for an alternative player that does what you want.

I doubt that play selection was a non pro feature before.

Ok, thanks people.

Big Mac- I'm a student, and my loan doesn't come in for 3 weeks. If I were earning money I wouldn't mind having to pay for a key

Its worth the money, buy it!

Besides which I don't think you can even set a selection without pro.

All the pro features can be accessed by applescript though, so there's nothing to complain about. pro just adds the convenience of not having to touch applescript.

It's basic functionality that should be included with the OS.

No one's forcing you to buy anything. Try QTAmateur.

Which means that you'd have to have a part of the money earned on the OS finance QuickTime Pro. Apple doesn't make any money on sales of Windows.

Exactly. How soon everyone forgets about the pre-QT 4 days.

As far as I know, Apple didn't lock out anything new in QuickTime Player 7. Did you buy your computer used, perchance?

Nor do they gain a damned thing by forcing people to use RealPlayer or VLC or MPlayer just so that they can watch something in full-flippin'-screen!

...nor does it make any sense for you to get your panties in a bunch over QTPlayer not giving fullscreen for free when there are litterally dozens of free apps that use the QT API to give you the exact same feature, including some open source applescripts from apple's own website.
