My son just bought a mac mini and is looking for help with the mac's configuration. Can we do a screen share without a camera in his display. I am using a MB Pro. We have been able to message each other using Apples iMessage app but screen sharing is grayed out.

To enable the service, open System Preferences and go to Sharing, then just check the box beside “Screen Sharing”.

Have you switched on Screen Sharing in the System Preferences on the Mac mini?
If you have, it should not be grayed out in the iMessage window.

Screen sharing does not require a camera. It just lets you control another screen from yours.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

It's unsecure though...I've seen Little Snitch block a user from South Korea from accessing my screen sharing...made me disable it just to be safe.
