the Buffalo terastations have 4 USB2 ports...if i connect it via USB2 directly to my PMG4, will it just show up as an external drive?

i read a few accounts of OSX not being able to transfer files larger than 4GB over the network, to the terastation. so i thought if i get one and use it via usb2, would it work like normal. I'm trying to find good solutions for RAID5 systems that I can use via FW or USB2, the terastation seems to be a great deal, and we have some deployed already, but only in windows environments.

i understand this might be a bit obscure :-) but any help would be appreciated
