It has come to my attention 'I've' been posting gay porn.

First of all, I'm terribly sorry for the... NSFWness of it all. Secondly, as Demonhood can attest, the thread in question was not started by me.

It all started this morning, when I tried to sign on to AOL. I couldn't. So I spend an hour on Tech support with AOL, who can't speak english very well to complicate matters. Thankfully I got my accounts back. So I log in, and to my surprise, all 80+ of my contacts are GONE! So I spend around half an hour sifting throught chat logs to get them back (I'm still only about half way there).

About two hours ago, I try logging into gmail. Guess what? My login name and my password don't match. So I fire off an email to the abuse department.

Well, I decide to cool off, so I come here, only to find the Lounge missing. Not knowing what 'I' did, I assume that it was taken down for other reasons. So I IM Demonhood. He explains, and I quote, "you linked to gay porn and made a nuisance of yourself" (hope you don't mind me quoting chat's DH). So yet agian, the plot thickens.

Allright, my blood pressure is too high, and words cannot express my anger. I'm too angry to even talk right now.

In essence, I hate hackers. Don't use Windows, kiddies. It'll get you. (Or so the theory goes, I think that since they only targeted Gmail and MacNN, they MUSt have known me).

[edit] More fun further down the page... NOt really.

I don't mean to be a dick, but the real lesson here is: Don't use AOL.

The saga continues:

Apparently I sent emails to express my gayness to everyone, as well:

I feel for you and I hope you find the person(s) that did this to you.

On the other hand, I find this (what they chose to do with your information) rather amusing and I hope you can see it in a similar manner.

That sucks man. I think I'm gonna change all my passwords just for good measure now, and finally get around to setting up an SSL connection on my mail server.

Maybe tomorrow.

... and i hope no co workers / employers were on that mailing list ... going to work could get "complicated"

No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

That's a dreadful story brien. Identity theft is a huge problem, and more needs to be done to combat it. One problem is that when your credit card number is stolen, even if you report it, the perpetrators generally go free because it costs more money for the banks to prosecute the case than to just absorb the loss. So criminals do it again and again, by just finding new victims.

That is some mad silly ****.

It must be someone who knows you to go through all the trouble of getting your Gmail and MacNN names.

Did you get any Phishing emails or perhaps someone put a keystroke recorder on your Mac?

"Hello, what have we here?

Exactly. What is the deal with people checking the "posts per day" average of users all the time? I don't even check that stuff (or of others). Zimphire and I are not in a competition.

I do have more stolen bases than Zimph does though...and a bigger baseball fan club...

While we're talking about sig's and stuff I thought I'd mention that if you were allowed avatars I would make mine a banned avatar.

What does that have to do with anything?

You probably know certain baseball players "averages" that you are a fan of right?

Same here. I call it the "fanboy effect"

Because we were talking about sigs..

Avatars and sigs usually go hand in hand.

I like avatars but MacNN wouldn't be the same with them.

Sadly enough, no one actually wants to steal my ID. And when someone broke into my dorm room, they had the gull to return all my CDs, as if my taste in music is bad or something.
