I'm not either. Honestly, even if it was 3G, thanks to AT&Ts new plans using it would probably run you the risk of overages. If it worked.

Heh, upgrades free for all devices. We'll see if there isn't a catch if you haven't upgraded to OS 3.

The new iPhone looks cool, but I'm fine with the 3GS until next year.

Oh, and June 21st for iOS4 is poo poo.

I brought my laptop to work today because I thought they would let us have it today. BOO.

3G video calls might have put me over the edge... but on WiFi? Meh. If I'm at home I already have a video chat device. My laptop.

The improved camera is single biggest thing I'm interested in... we take a lot of pics and videos with our phones.
The screen, battery life & gyroscope are cool, but not enough to make me upgrade.

Again... I can wait til next year.

I felt like I just watched a one hour infomercial for a cool phone, not a developers conference. Am I wrong to think that? Would Steve get upset?

It really was too long for basically a showcase of a product and OS we already knew a good deal about (albeit some unintentionally).

It appears as though your earlier comment is true. Except for the 2 hour part:

What a boring keynote. The new iPhone is nice, but I feel like Apple's a bit behind the game, what with 1.2 GHz dual core Snapdragons making their way onto the market this winter.

They're behind the game for not having processors that aren't out and won't hit market til half-way through the iPhone 4's lifespan? Jigga-wut?

Same amount of insensitivity required, only now the person has lost the use of their lower body.

Pure magic.

(I also just stole from someone else’s sig. It’s just an S followed by a “COMBINING ENCLOSING KEYCAP” [Unicode 20E3].)

Heh.

Weeelll … let’s just say I find the OS a lot more drool-worthy than the phone itself. It is indeed just about as fugly as the Gizmodo one. Very big meh, despite the two cameras, which is nice.

I would have suffered for several months with my old Sony Ericsson T610, if it meant getting a 3G HD vs a 3GS this fall.
By 3G HD, are you referring to the HD video recording? Or is 3G HD some kind of improved network thingamajig I’ve missed? [Hey, what do I have to lose? My MacNN geek card’s already been revoked. ]

P.S. No comments on the trackpad from you Oisín? I think its rumoured handwriting recognition feature would be a huge boost for many languages not based on alphabets.
Hadn’t actually seen it earlier on. Looks quite cool, from the 30 seconds I looked at it just now. Would be quite neat.

Though I have to admit that I very rarely use the (excellent) handwriting recognition for Chinese on the iPhone. It’s just so much faster to type in Pinyin than it is to write characters by hand.

Which, surely, would mean that’s not the same amount of insensitivity—it’s about half a body’s worth of extra insensitivity.

Well, what I mean is that Apple's upgrade cycle for the iPhone means that it's coming out in the middle of a superior product's life cycle, and it's only matching that product, not going beyond it, so that in the next six months, the next generation of competitor is out already.
