I use an iPhone 4 to play podcasts and audiobooks when I go to sleep.
I want to get an iPad mini to help with work stuff, but....

While its easy to roll on a iPhone without damaging it, and put it under the pillow- would this be possible with the mini?

Does anyone take one to bed?

For what it is worth, looking at a brightly lit screen just before bedtime does horrible things to your sleep patterns. I like to read before going to bed and reading the research on this made me go back to paper books. I know could have bought a Kindle but don't like them much. Personally I try and be screen free after 9:00 pm.

It sounds like he's listening to things, not looking, in order to fall asleep. If he sets a playlist he could be screenfree for a long time.

I sometimes listen to the iphone/ipad in bed, but it's a big enough bed there's room for both of us.

I should think the biggest issue with sleeping with a device is not so much you crushing it, but it falling off the bed and crashing on the floor. Putting in the pillowcase I suppose could help, or an otterbox.

Now, what do you do for speakers, use headphones or device speakers? I have seen pillow speakers and headband speakers that I've been wanting to try. Headphones/earbuds are uncomfortable to sleep in.

Do you drool excessively while sleeping, that could cause problems.

iOS 7 will fix that*

*iOS 7 will not fix that

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I sleep with my iPad 3 all of the time. I watch movies on it until I fall asleep. I usually end up pressing the power button before I sleep, but sometimes I forget and wake up and find the movie still playing (series of movies). Amazing battery life!

I drink heavily to fall asleep, and when I do sleep I sleep with a woman, but I plan on buying an iPad, so maybe my life will change for the better.

My mini is the "bed tablet". No problems to report.

Sounds like you need an iPod Shuffle.

But to answer your question, I think no amount of reasonable rolling on in a bed would damage a mini in any way.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.
