Downward Spiral. I was young enough when it came out that it kinda scared me a little. Naturally I was drawn to it...

Pretty Hate Machine is far and away the best, and you left it off the poll. You must be too young or something.

Why in the hell isn't Pretty Hate Machine up there?

Clearly the best one, imho.

Have you been touched by his noodly appendage?

Obviously. What does that say about old Trent. Pretty amazing, considering that album was as awesome to 15 year olds (like me) then as it is now.

Or vice versa. I dunno, but it holds up.

Some fan you are, you forget the first album! On top of that, March Of The Pigs wasn't an album, and neither were Broken or Fixed.

Interesting that people are voting for the Fragile. I thought it was rather weak compared to their other albums. The new one is much better than Fragile was.

I thought that Fragile was a really good album, and far more involved than with teeth. not as immediate no, but more intelligent.

Pretty Hate Machine, without question.

The fact that you didn't even put it on the list makes me mad.

Green Day is getting worse and worse... their old music, specifically Dookie, is their best. Their new stuff is crap and all political. Go back to singing about masturbation Billy, at least then you knew what you were talking about!

...sorry, got off on a tangent there. I used to like Green Day until they got the U2-esque political agenda mixed up with their music.

Pretty Hate Machine is the best.

And if you like PHM, I recommend the Head Like a Hole - CD Single.

OK, shouldn't this just be by Halo number?

As in, which is the best NIN Halo?

As far as the non-single Halos, LPs and EPs, here's my take:

Pretty Hate Machine - Love it, and it's a great one to get people into NIN because it's more poppy. More of a collection of songs than Trent's later concept albums.

Broken - I can't express how much I love this one. I listen to it all the way through, many times. Great to get aggression out. Goes a long way to proving the fact that Trent can yell "fist f*ck" better than anyone. Trent's wall of sound guitars are awesome. The first Halo to be like an industrial rock orchestration, with all the songs flowing together, calm parts, hectic parts.

Fixed - If you don't own this, you should. It's a great collection of Broken remixes. Flows together well even though the remixes are by different artists.

Downward Spiral - All of a sudden the rest of the world knows who NIN is. All Trent had to do is say "I wanna f*ck you like an animal" and he's popular. Overall, a great story, a great concept album. Definitely a must have.

The Fragile - Two discs, and such a great spectrum of music. This is probably Trent's "masterpiece."

With Teeth - Grew on me after a few listens, but then fell out of the rotation shortly after. Harkens back to the "collection of songs" type of album like PHM.

As far as singles, they are worth picking up for the covers that are on them. Someone already mentioned "Get Down, Make Love" by Queen. I like "Memorabilia" by Soft Cell too.

I've always wanted Trent to cover A Flock of Seagulls.

As far as my favorite NIN album, I'd sneak out of a straight answer. My favorite EP is Broken, my favorite LP is Downward Spiral, my favorite two disc set is the Fragile.

Most everything in Trent's world is lowercase, then. broken. the downward spiral. Even the name of the band is nine inch nails on many of the covers.

Broken was an album. Fixed was a remix of broken, so not really an album on its own.

I really couldn't say. They're all amazing... except With Teeth.

I don't see why a lot of you don't think much of The Fragile though... I think it's a masterpiece.

I generally take Broken and Fixed to be different sides (in vinyl speak) of the same album - and they're only an album when taken together.

Another vote for PHM

i am sanctified inside you
heaven's just a roumor she'll dispell
as she walks me through the nicest parts of hell"
