Inspired by the Dinner vs. Supper thread. As always, there is only one right answer.

Plus, cussing is unladylike, whereas cursing is more socially acceptable.

I'd go with "cursing".
I've explored this topic thoroughly during my global travels, and my consensus is that only older people use 'cussing', and some southerners use "cussin'".

As a non-believer in "bad" words, I do both. But I think I'm more adept at swearing.

Apparently, if you're into bestiality you prefer the term 'cuss'.

Okay, obviously if I'm writing a paper (or even a blog post), I'm going to write "swearing" or "cursing."

If I'm in a casual environment, I'm going to say "cussing." No doubt.

Oft-used phrase in my family: "He/she was cussin' up a storm."

Like it or not, the word "holla" is a bad word. Very bad.

Cursing is preferable. Cussing sounds like its ungrammatical, now that I think of it, and I can only think of that term being used by school children to tattle on each other.

Speaking of sounding idiotic, I talked to a guy last night that was using a bit too much profanity. He told me I had a sweet-ass ****in'-car. Later I moved the hyphen in my head, but reassured myself he meant to make it a compliment.
