My wife is in all week for a (relatively) routine op, Living in Hong Kong we rely on the net for most of our TV.
It look me about 5 mins to create a folder action that watches the downloads folder for new tv shows, compresses them to be iPhone size and saves them to my iDisk, then pushes notification to her phone to tell her.
My wife then uses the free mobile idisk app on her iPhone to watch the TV, it works amazingly.
Try doing that on any other OS in 10 minutes!

Not to rain on your parade, but the AirVideo/AirServer app will do all of that for windows (and Macs too). Actually, it is less steps than your set up.
Still cool, and very nice of you to do for your wife.

Not unless he specifically states that he gets the TV shows from illegitimate sites. He hasn't said that. Perhaps in Hong Kong they have legal downloads of TV that aren't protected? I've visited a few international TV channel websites that have legal downloads of TV shows that they broadcast.

airvideo is pretty slick (and there are a few others). but the OP did everything in the OS without another application. i think that is what he was getting at.

It was a very strange assumption to make, you can compress pirated software into an archive, it doesn't mean we should lock all threads regarding unzipping files.

You "rely on the net for most of our TV" but you can easily save the files and recompress for iPhone so it's not DRM'd.
Legal + downloadable + DRM-free TV services are a bit unusual. I'd love to try one, which are you using?
