Folks,
I have a 1.5GB FW 800 hard disk. It was nearing capacity. So, I deleted some files. They deleted, they didn't go into the trash, but I had no additional space available!
I tried deleting the local backups of Time Machine to no avail.
Any ideas? (Short of backup / reformat)?

As far as I can tell, the trash is empty. (Nothing showing in the icon) When I navigate to it via terminal, I'm unable to see anything in the folder.

Run Disk Utility. This could be directory damage.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
