What prices are you hoping to see apps for?
What kinds of apps would you pay more/less for?
Are you expecting most apps to be USD $5 - $10?
Let's hear your thoughts on iPhone app pricing... unless this has been covered already, I would be curious what the prevailing opinion here is...

I'm looking for an application that would let me to make phone calls while at home or work over wifi. I believe some T-mobile phones do this already. I'd pay up to $30 for that. However, I'm not sure Apple would allow it to be sold through the app store since that would mean people would be less likely to rack up overage. I'm sure there is some type of agreement with AT&T not to allow it.

$5-$10 seems like the norm on the iPhone. I really can't see paying more for the app unless it's something revolutionary, and even then, I'll have to wait for reviews on it...or a demo.

I hope most are $5 or less, but fully expect some premium software to go for over $20.
It's going to be interesting to see the variety of apps.

$5-$10 is a popular price point for the ones I've seen. I'd be happy to pay that much. More than that and it would have to be something special that only an iPhone could do, or heavyweight like MS Office or iWork type apps, or a nice drawing and painting app (like this app called Colors for the DS) or something.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I'd bet that the median price will be "free."

The only app I know I will grab at first--NetNewsWire's mobile version--will be free.

I'm with BRussell...I'm expecting many decent apps at $0.00.

Apple lists the prices that people can charge as free up to $999. Personally, I wanna see what app is worth 3 or 4 times the price of the phone itself.

I seem to remember Apple saying that VOIP apps would be Ok as long as they only worked over wireless.

Unless there's a way to do free upgrades, I hope to see them for $1 so it's not too painful to buy every version with bugfixes.

I use Splasm Software's excellent CheckBook program on my Mac and would pay real software prices ($30+) for an iPhone version which would let me stop saving receipts when out & about or on trips. Just enter transaction details on the device, sync up and have both the desktop client and the handheld be up-to-date.
This would be especially great for my wife, who has a real problem both saving receipts and entering what she spends into CheckBook.

I doubt we ever will. But there obviously had to be some upper limit.
Had Apple put the limit at $99 these boards would have been full of people bitching about how Apple just killed iPhone software development.
