I am currently trying to connect an old video camera which uses Hi8 video tapes into iMovie. I have connected the video camera A/V cable into an A/V-to-Firewire converter. The converter shows up in iMovie but the tapes don't. Why is this?
Thanks,
Mason

I seem to remember using using my old Hi8 tapes in iMovie, it would have been a while ago though, so maybe the feature was removed.
When you say the tapes don't show up, do you mean you get no audio/video? Do you get anything?

With the converter, you can import any type of video, the source doesn't matter. But you won't be able to control the camera in iMovie (or any other application for that matter), that only works when you connect a camera directly via FireWire.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

When I say the tapes don't show up, I mean that they are not getting imported.
