Maybe it's nothing, but it looked a bit suspect to me. I'll admit though, from what I can tell it doesn't seem any different in use to B80.
Files sizes are very different though, granted.

So, that is just because of the fool who started the torrent file, the actual images are named correctly:

"Mac_OS_X_10.3_7B85_User_CD_1.dmg"

Here's an idea. Why not just wait until it's in a box and sitting on the shelf at an Apple store or ChumpUSA before doing anything with it?

Hell, I plan on waiting till they have it pre-installed on the G5s before walking into the store and running out with one. That way you're sure to get a version with the debug code disabled.

Better have duals on display.

This got me curious so I used the find command to md5 every file on the 7b80 cd and diff'ed it against the 7b85 cd downloaded from a certain site. Basically every version.plist is different, which is consistent with the way that a build process works. But almost all of the contents of the packages have been changed as well:

< MD5 (./Packages/iCal.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz) = fadb3cf3276c2361a7e24f13c232b319
---
> MD5 (./Packages/iCal.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz) = 535f4d88af562e9f654804ece59b7926

< MD5 (./Packages/iPhoto.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz) = 7fb378db518c81eefe83319990f710a8
---
> MD5 (./Packages/iPhoto.pkg/Contents/Archive.pax.gz) = 6588a917b1454af9c9c26e4c0a4be4f2

etc. I don't have CD 1 yet, but definately 2 and 3 are different builds, unless someone went to the trouble to rebuild all these installer archives (which would be a royal PITA, I imagine)

Anyone who is really concerned about whether or not a particular build of Panther is GM should be comforted by knowing that the final version - which I know everyone is buying - will most certainly be in the legitimately purchased boxes of Mac OS X 10.3 they open. Right?

Right?

If you all plan to buy the retail version.... who gives a what build is final? You'll HAVE the final no doubt at that point.

I have no picture to post.

But this goes down as one of the worst threads I've ever read.

Checksums aside, I suppose it's too late to ask if there's any INTERESTING or DISCERNABLE differences between your two illegal copies??

Wow, this thread is filled with useless replies. If you don't care, why don't you refrain from posting such Renaissance Man comments as "Who friggin' cares?".

No wonder MacNN boards have such a **** reputation - you lot bring down the brand for everyone else here.

I heard 7B85.2 is the build with the debug code stripped. Hmm. Are they going to give us the build full of debug code as the GM *again*?

7B85 is the GM. Jobs said it himself.

The file comparisons being identical and such are just glitches in the matrix.

Oh, Hash, I'm really sorry if you took my joke personally. It wasn't directed at you and I must have not made it clear enough that it was just a joke... MY BAD. Please forgive me, I'll never do it again. I'm just thoughtless, meaningless and dull... SORRY.

Many Panther seeds that appeared on ADC did not have corresponding Xcode seeds until several days later--if at all.

7B85 is GM.

Uh, what do you mean "where is it"? It exists. Just because the warez kiddiez aren't pirating it yet doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I've heard rumours that build 7B87 (Client and Server versions) will be appearing all over Carracho and BitTorrent tonight. I've also heard that this build is the real GM and fixes all the bugs in 7B85.
