Just wanted to run a quick poll on seeing what the first cocoa program you wrote was. This can be anything from Currency Converter to Tit-Tac-Toe to a full blown application.

Mine was the Currency Converter a year or 2 ago when I found the 150+ pages of documentation on cocoa...

I don't think I made the Currency Converter first... if I remember right (and it was a long time ago, Public Beta days), I made a RandomGuess game by looking at the info from the Currency Converter, but I never actually wrote the Currency Converter. It amazes me how little I know back then and how much I know now... that's why I have trouble helping newbies - I just have figured out so much stuff over the years, I don't know where to start!

Nice program Catfish_Man... I am guessing you worked with someone on it from your website or did you do it yourself?

About 98% myself, with some physics help from my math-whiz brother. The other names are beta testing, and credit to Eric Meyer for the website (I borrowed it from CSS/Edge).

My first "real" program is setilogger x. Well I fixed the version in OS 9... but I didnt make it! SetiLogger X is made from the ground up by me. It is quite an experience. Makes me want to program in Cocoa full-time The next program I am going to work on is a joint venture and is top secret I am also working on some games. They will be release freeware or shareware, depending on their difficulty. All done in OpenGL btw... I will announce them when they are out!

I just recently started programming for the OS X with XCode; so naturally I did the Currency Converter application.

But I am having a bit of a diffcult time grasping all the stuff, as I use to do lightweight programming using Delphi and the dreaded Visual Basic on Windoze. Ever since I switch to Mac, I wanted to get involved in developing apps for OS X.

Mine was a "dice rolling" app. I should probably scrap it and redo the whole thing sometime.

I looked through the currency converter tutorial and did my own miles per gallon/cost per mile calculator. MPGCalc

Nope, it's straight Cocoa. There's a similar program called Cavendish that uses OpenGL (it's faster, 3d, and more accurate, but a lot harder to use). If anyone wants a copy of 2.0 alpha (10.3 only, I'm afraid), let me know. It's coming along fairly nicely (vastly improved accuracy, multiple selection, some UI improvements, other stuff), but it's still got a long ways to go (I'm working on undo support now). There's a mailto link on the credits page of the website... I suppose I should make an easier to find one.

Unfortunate list of poll choices. My first app was a scientific calcuator. I had to choose "full-blown app"

My first Cocoa program was a screensaver... There's no option in the poll for that though...

I released it a few days ago...

Character Counter in my case (and a dang good one at that, I think). http://www.softyards.com/charcounter.html if anyone's interested.
I bring order to chaos. You are in chaos windows, you are the contradiction, a bug wishing to be an OS.
