Does anyone actually do that? What batteries need to be charged for a whole DAY?

I get a brand new phone and the guy sets it up for me. Mind you it's already got some juice in it. He fiddles with it, makes a few phone calls to check it. Sets up my voice mail on it and shows me how to browse the web with it. Then he says, go home and charge it 24 hours before using it

That reminds me of a TV commercial.

Everyone see that sheep commercial with
the "Sealy" sheep?

I love that one wear one tears off the tag,
and they go to jail, and are explaining to
some goon why they were there.

The one sheep that tore the tag begins by
saying "We tore..." another interupts and
says, "...a guy to pieces". Cracks me up!

It's just like how you're supposed to wash new clothes before wearing, I never do that either. The clothes will never be that fresh and new again, I figure. As for electronics, I use them as soon as I get home and save the charging for when I go to sleep.

I only shampoo once. I don't repeat

There is a conspiracy to try to get you to use twice as much as shampoo than necassary and I refuse to participate.

Rinse, lather, repeat...... Ha!! and I was born yesterday right?

I can't wear clothes without washing them once or twice... the stiffness and whatnot annoys the hell out of me.

I'm going to add to that:

I deem this thread anti-semetic, and anti-christian liberal slander.

I have to admit:

The box reads 'this side up' (well, there's no water in it)

The package says 'open here' (I have my knife and pliers thank you)

The Walmart door says exit only (the door swings both ways doesn't it?)

I do not walk to the corner just to stay on the crosswalk (I sometimes cross the street diagonaly)

Sometimes I walk into a store read an article in the newspaper and put the newspaper back (ha save 50 cents)

At the supermarket sometimes I leave the cart out in the open (not in the cart collection pit)

This one time i picked up a can of tuna in the supermarket and by the time I got to the snacks section i decided i didn't want the tuna anymore so I put the tuna next to the ruffles chips and walked away

I don't always "Read all instruction before using this product" either.

"This product is for indoor use only" .....right

and what the hell does dispose of batteries according to local regulations, do not throw in trash mean? am I suposed to call someone to find out?

In todays sue happy America, if your product doesn't have a warning label, your ****ed. Remember when plastic bags were safe? Now kids can choke on them.
Anyway, back on topic:
Modern betteries used in cell phones, iPods, etc, work best the more they are plugged in. No more memory effect. My buddy has a 1st Gen iPod that he rarely lets below 50% battery charge, to this day it holds a charge nearly as well as the day he bought it. (Plus it's plugged in whenever possible)
I leave my phone and 3G iPod plugged in whenever I'm not using it, and since I use it mostly in my car, it's always plugged in there to. The few times I've used it untill the battery ran down it lasted 7 hours (playing straight at work, no stopping or skipping songs,).

Humbug.

I've never had a problem with using a phone or ipod or whatnot with a partially charged battery.

Sure, you may not have a problem now, but in the long run you wear out your battery faster. The cells in these batteries are only rated for so many charge/discharge cycles, then they start to lose "life". The catch is, a charge cycle is a full depletion of the battery. So if you use 1/4 of your juice and then re-charge, it's only counts as 1/4 of a cycle. So it's better to leave it plugged in when you are not using it, as it saves your battery over time. Remember, even when these phones, iPods, etc... are off they are still using a little bit of juice, which counts towards the carge cycles.
My roommate would leave his old trusty Nokia 6100 (With Li-Ion battery) unplugged all the time, and after a year his battey life blew. Now his new phone he plugs in and a year later it still runs like a champ, color screen and all.
