I run the 4-28 updater and it tells me my iPod is version "2.1 (needs update)".

However the Update button is disabled so I can't run the update.

The readme during install said my iPod has the update already (although I don't know how it could know that, it's just a readme and my iPod wasn't even plugged in!) So I'm a bit confused.

Do I need to do a Restore in order to upgrade to the 2.2 version?

I'm glad it's working for somebody :-)

The Restore button is enabled for me, but not the Update button.

Doesn't matter whether I have iTunes running or if I run the updater then plug in the iPod, or plug in the iPod then run the updater. Weird.

Guess I'll try Restore then re-sync from iTunes.

After running the update my iPod became stuck on the "ok to disconnect" check mark icon. After a reset, i get a folder with an exclamation mark on it.

Seems kind of a weak update IMHO

A friend just successfully updated his 3G 2.1 iPod from his Mac. So we plugged in my iPod and had the same problem, a disabled Update button. So it's something to do with my iPod, not on the Mac end.

I did a Restore, which resulted in 2.2 getting on the iPod, and am now dumping all the music & books back.

Bit of a pain, but it's working.

I updated, the iPod rebooted, and now it's stuck on the Apple logo. Tried rebooting it, no go.

3G 30GB.

My iPod 15GB doesn't even show the "restore" button, the update application says that there is not iPod attached...
